S-Class (W140/C140) 1995 Mercedes-Benz S70 AMG (7.0 S) - Any info & pics?

The Mercedes-Benz W140 is a series of flagship vehicles manufactured by Mercedes-Benz from 1991 to 1998 in sedan/saloon and coupe body styles and two wheelbase lengths (SE and SEL). The first generation CL-Class was the sleek but hard-lined and redesigned W140-chassis (internally known as C140) coupé of 1992–1999.
There were a handful of S70 S Class station wagons made in right hand drive for the Sultan of Brunei. A black one was for sale in Hong Kong about 10 years ago but it was never sold. I don't know the current location of the dar.

Wow, massive congrats for having this ultra rare car. Thanks for sharing the pics and welcome to the forum. Do you have photos of the engine and the interior?

Hi, its nice to hear somebody likes am car
Hi, I am new to this forum and joined to follow this post. I have a 1993 S70 AMG W140. You will find the pictures attached. As it has been mentioned the engine is a 7L modified version of the 6L V12 found in 600SEL, the same 7L engine is also found in the 2001 Zonda S. The same V12 engine was later increased to 7.3L, and this was used in the SL73 and the 2002 Zonda S7.3. I guess that through development of the engine they realised that they could reliably increase the capacity to 7.3L. My car was originally supplied by AMG to Japan, and remained there for 34K Km’s. I recently exported the car from Dubai to UK, at 64K Km’s. Its original in all ways! Incredible power and features for a car that is 20years old.

Congrats, Joe! I can't think of any superlatives that describe how I feel about this car. Absolutely love the no-nonsense design and details of the W140, and the added AMG details just strike the right balance of bad-ass without looking cartoonish like a lot of people tend to do with cars like this. I also love how the exhaust is only one-sided yet still look substantial, yet not obscenely substantial. Nowadays, cars not deserving of dual-exhaust have dual-exhaust for the sake of appearance.

If I can implore you and request additional pics of this car from a side profile, interior and especially the engine. Also, please, if you can go into more details about the ride and features. It's such a rare car and did not even know it existed until today. I'm just absolutely fascinated with this car.

If your S70 was originally destined for Japan, how come it's not RHD? It also looks like yours has a slightly different front bumper with fog lights. Never seen that on a W140. Even the S70 in those brochure/press shots doesn't have fogs. I also thought only face-lifted '95+ W140 had the clear turn signals, older W140's had orange ones.

This makes me miss my W140 S600.
I remember it even had a sticker in the back labeled "Mercedes-Benz Japan" too.

You can register and drive a LHD car in Japan, they consider cars which has their steering on the same side as their country of origin a bit more prestigious.

Mercedes-Benz S 70 AMG Original! erst 91tkm 1.Hand S600L W140 S-Klasse 130Bilder | eBay

There You will find 130 pics of original W140 7.0 AMG, European model sold to Jap and reeksported to DE. Its not in 100% original view, Jap people like to tune up cars using china made lights:) but its in real great condition. Never believed that car with 90K km and 15 years old can have original paint and NO ONE scratch on the body...
also two S7.0 You will find on www.mobile.de just check MB S600

Does somebodey knows the number how much W140, S7.0 AMG were produced? Only info I got, SL 7.0 AMG, were produced only 150 pcs...

What an overbuilt masterpiece. This is the best looking W140 I've seen in years. W140s are dirt cheap now even ones in good shape.....hmmm.

At the risk of over-generalizing, but I heard the Yakuza are especially fond of LHD Black S-classes.

Seriously. You can get a nice W140 for like $5K or under, easily. It's ridiculous value. Sometimes I wonder why not to buy one (maintenance, of course, but even then, such a low overhead).

Found this video on YT labeled an S600, but all the AMG badges in the interior and engine cover tells me it's not. The two seats arrangements in the back, the wood trim and leather stitching everywhere, which I've never seen on a W140 S600.

Indeed! It was way beyond it's time when it showed up. But from experience, she needs $h!t load of money to maintain.

Sure, its takes a time and money to get W140 back in normal condition, but You will forget about when will drive it after ! there are no any LED in/on it, no any Parking Pilot, night vision, active body control and etc sh you realy dont need in the car, but should pay for it buyin new W221... And there are 2times more space inside !
I bought in Jan2012 S600 W140 coupe, 91 k kms, for 4250 eur, Jap reimport, with perfect saloon condition, but needed to work a bit on the body and other. Its take 5 months and about 6 k eur, but it looks perfect now and driving it you feel aura of real MB... for 11 k eur + music :) And be sure, during a day you will not meet the same on the street !
But anyway, its not comparable with S 7.0 AMG...

Are you familiar with the CL 72 AMG? AMG S72 Coupe ! V12 1996 - Mercedes-Benz Forum

That's the same 7.0 AMG engine as in the S 70, but then with 386 kW(525 hp) and 740 Nm. Also available in the R129 and the W140.

No its a normal S600 coupe, but I also have S 7.0 AMG long. I have never seen W140 S72 AMg coupe before...

Hi Yas,
Thanks for your reply.
I have attached a couple of picture, one of my car, the other of the original sales brochure. Shows the front fog lights were fitted in 1993, but I think your right about the orange turn signals.
