Autobahn Newbie
hi all new to this forum, i have a mercedes 230e 123 with a 102980 engine that i am trying to rebuild, the old girl made 440000klm before it died
i am trying to get all the specs for this motor, timming marks for the botom end, picturs, anything that will help me rebuild her, bore size, ring gaps, anything, she was built in south africa in june 1983, taken to australia in 1988
she still drove like new,no rattles, bangs, smooth as pie,the first sing of trouble
was when she started to use a lot of water with no apparent leaks, the oil pressure droped,so i put her in the garage at home and pulled the head off
the pistons were full of water, there is no evidence of cracks, the head gasket
looked ok,so i will have to get the head tested, there are a few marks in the bore so i will have it honed or rebored if needed,as i am having a go at it myself as money is allways a problem, and it is going to take a while, but time i have got,so any help would be gratefully appreciated. thank you. leo

I have a couple of W123 sources at home but they're all in German most of them focus on the diesels, not on the gasoline models. :t-cheers:

Below is a scanned page of the W123 230/230E models. Hope this simple technical info helps in one way or the other (yeah sure, you probably have the same stuff written in the instruction manual! :D).

:t-cheers:

PS: I changed the title of your thread so it will get more exposure. ;)
