Renders 1960s Mercedes Benz Design - Paul Bracq

In Italy of all places; how non-typical for the zeitgeist of that day and age…?
If I’m not mistaking @Oida, the C and CE /8 were extremely popular and I can imagine a delivery/waiting periode of well over two years. Do you know/remember how long you’d had to wait after ordering?

At least well over one year, I seem to recall. The W114/115 Strich Achter M-Bs' were the first M-B offerings in the companys' history to become " automobiles for the masses" of sorts. I clearly remember reading the Zulassungszahlen segments in AMuS in which the registrations of the /8 occasionally exceeded those of the VW Käfer and Opel Kadett. They really sold like "frischgebackene Frühstücks-Semmel". And yes, the C and CE sold well. More than a few customers who first considered purchasing an Opel Commodore A coupe or Ford 20M/26M coupe took that little extra step to become proud owners of a C or CE.

Wow, that they sold more than those two bestsellers is new to me. Thanks for pointing that out. Gives a clearer image of those days.

Only very sporadically in the monthly tallies, Mick. Annual totals remained dominated by the VW Käfer and Opel Kadett. But the /8er began to give the Rekords/Commodores ,17m/20m/26M and BMW "Neue Klasse" sedans a real run for the money. They very handily outsold the BMWs and Fords actually. But the Rekord C/Commodore A was very popular as well.

And later the W123 was frequently outselling the Golf I for the first place in the monghtly sales statistic in Germany.

Not only did they hit it on the outside, but I see that the interior is up to the task, it is an invitation to sin, I still cannot believe that it is a FIAT, it was definitely the Pininfarina beta test for the 400, a clear evolution of the aforementioned, i guess those 130 must be very rare and valuable in good condition

I think Bertone is also on the Top 5 list of best car designers of all time. They had amazing designs for Alfas, Fiat, Lancia, Lambo, Ferrari, Aston Martin, BMW in production and concept cars.
