My first thread this!

Question is pretty simple really - which do you prefer?

I'm not sure - I've yet to see a new X5 so haven't formed an opinion on it yet - though IMO it looks a little less elegant than the previous version.

I really do like the facelift version of the E53 (don't know if it had a separate number or not!). It sorted out everything about the previous version that looked wrong aesthetically to me - revised fascia really fitted in with the E46 facelift the E46 coupé, family style if you know what I mean. And also - the 4.8is - what a fabulous car! Supreme style (that meaty bodykit!) and lovely edge to it, lots of vrrrroom but very, very relaxing. Really liked it and were it not for the fuel bills and imminent E280CDi I would have kept it for longer.

So, my vote goes to the E53 facelift, simply because you are all wrong and it is the best car here!

E53 and E70 are pretty similar but my vote goes to E70. I like the rearlights on the new X5 with the white stripe and the interior is x10 better than the old.

The 4.8is was an awesome car... This is kind of an interesting topic especially because over easter i was driven in the new X5 down to Sandiego and the old E53 fl X5 up from san deigo. The new X5 is better than the old one by a huge margin. Not only does it look better, its more comfortable, the seats are better, the interior is more organized and it has cool features like traffic avoiding GPS and hidden back up cameras and all that shit....It really is a fantastic car-heres a pic of the one we drove down-not a 4.8 unfortunately.

I feel the same way Matt. I'm not that thrilled by the E70. Sure it look alright but still I do find the face lifted E53 a bit more elegant. The E70 looks more sporty though.

I really love the new X5...actually a while back we took test drives of the ML500 , Q7 4.2, and X4 4.8i....at that time we liked the Q7 the most because of the price of the X5.....however now BMW has a nice lease deal on the X5 so we are probably going to get that...

sorry audi guys....you might think that im going to the dark side, but i still like most audi models to bmw models.....the X5 being an exception.

Oh boy lets see I love the E53 especially the 4.8is and 4.6is. I think the exterior overall is nicer than the new E70 but when it comes down to the whole package the E70 wins by a landslide.
