Hot! Mercedes-Benz, What's Next?

Latest news, trending discussions, reviews, and major updates
It's not my intention to grill you or anything like that, but I don't understand why would they stop making the S Coupe, when it sells well, and is the perfect 'halo' coupe for the Benz (and gives them Cabrio model as well).

Especially now that we know there will be CLS and AMG's Panamera competitor?

Sorry, I fear I cannot give a precise answer to that without compromisi ng my or my sources' position.
What I can say is: the coupe is not the cashcow it could/should be. The assumption of a coupe-based convertible is at least disputable, nowadays. The opposite may be true. Processes and decisions at the big OEMs are incredibly complex with more variables than just sales numbers, purchase price, and selling price. One big variable is internal politics.

I suspect that many of the design elements seen on the AMG GT Concept will be apparent on the upcoming CLS successor (the general form of the head as well as taillamps, the length of the rear overhang, the form of the grill and the smooth yet muscular flanks-albeit with, I imagine with regret, less blistered wheel arches). And perhaps the GT Concept also serves as a precursor of sorts for the speculated 4 door W223 coupe. There have been murmurings that the W223 S-Class will see the slow-selling SWB sedan configuration jettisoned (and thus available in LWB or Maybach-version extended LWB only) and replaced with a 4 door coupe. In fact, recent prototype spottings appear to indicate a longer as well as wider CLS successor. Could this actually be an S-Class-based derivative after all ?

^As I wrote in here almost 2 years ago (and got grilled for): the first coupe that will not have a successor will probably be the S coupe. I don't know whether things have changed since then but it was pretty solid info back when I got the info.

I remember that. People were not pleased lol.

Hard to keep up now, but the S-Class facelift is obviously next. Shouldn't we get something on it in a few weeks? I would be the GLC63 models are coming for NYC too. Then there is Frankfort and the hypercar debut! Along with probably the production version fo the 4-door GT concept? Maybe the CLE/CLS and the facelit for the C-Class? New A-Class?

I think the 4 door GT will be next year and I think also A class will come next year..doesn't the B class come first I don't remember seeing any B class spy or mules.

A "EQ" sedan concept with dimensions placing it between the E and S Class appearing in Frankfurt ?

S-Class facelift up next. GLC63 models on deck already. What will Frankfurt hold in Sept? C-Class facelift? S Coupe/Cabrio facelift? EQ Concept of some type? New CLS or GLE? I would bet Mercedes wants to put the new CLS on the road before the AMG GT4 in order to give them some room on the market. CLS450 and CLS55 both with the new I6. For a V8 you're going to have to get the AMG GT4.

Will the next generation E63 saloon be killed? The new strategy of amg seems to imply that the v8 will be reserved for the few special models

I doubt it. MB will continue to use a V8 in the top AMG E and C models even when others use 6-cylinders, IMO. That is why you pay the AMG premium. There will never be another V8 E550/500 though. Then again, the next AMG C could use a 500+ hp I6, a la C36 from years ago.

The automotive industry is constantly changing. It wasn't too long ago that non amg v8 forms a substantial portion of all MB models above the c class. In the near future , the only model receiving the non amg v8 will be the s class level cars. I am not sure if that will stay true with that little volume compared to the past

Why AMG coming out with such teaser when MB has already released the complete video of GLC 63?

These videos were released couple of days ago and posted on the GLC thread. Check the date on them.

Bro, both the teaser & product videos were uploaded on the same date in MB & M-AMG youtube channels on the same day. Kindly check the publishing date!
