I wonder why the A class is slow selling in Germany? They don't seem to like the car or is it Mercedes production is behind demand?

surprising to see the b class sell so well.. even better than A class....i think worldwide demand of A class could be the reason why sales are a bit low...

I'll probably get some negs for this, I think it's not a very good Mercedes, people can get what they percieve to be a better car in the Golf and A3.

Using the mark 1 eyeball the A class appears smaller than Golf/A3, it certainly feels much smaller inside, I park beside one at work often, it's not much bigger than my A1.

It's a great looking car though.

It's an interesting buyers market in Germany and huge difference with the private and fleet buyers! Mercedes doesn't seem to be popular with the fleet buyers except the C-class and private people don't seem to care alot for the BMW 3-series, what is weird is looking at the VW Passat 5692 buyers were fleet and only 357 were private! The Mercedes models are very popular it seems with the private buyer including the A-class!

Yep in some ways you are right, from a looks point of you the A-class in my opinion is the best looking hatch on the market the sportiest looking in the Golf class. It does appear to look smaller than the A3 and Golf maybe due to the tapered and lowered hatch area with very small back window. In terms of interior space it is definitely inferior to the Golf, the back especially has limited cabin width and legroom is a bit short. I haven't sat in the A3 yet but I can imagine it is bigger inside than the A-Class. Compared or the other Mercedes models the A-class is definitely not one of their best models it has a lot of compromises and is not near the top of the class like C-class, E-class and S-class are.
