All kind of sales Audi / BMW / Mercedes

The designs from BMW have been underwhelming of lately.
Sales are reflecting consumer perception.
It's not fair to say that for the 3 and 5 series as they are at a different stage of product life cycle as compared to the c and e class.

However sales statistics does seem to suggest that the new 7 series is struggling .

Mercedes is KILLING it.

Mercedes benz monthly sales figures are at least not correct.
Last month they said that MB sold 20.000 more cars in 1st half of the year than BMW. And, now calculate for yourself:
Daimler interim report for q1 ( I guess that this interim reports are the most accurate data)
q1.webp

and for q2:
q2.webp

and BMW for first half of the year:
h1.webp

It looks like BMW is still in the lead after all, when not considering the MB vans, which they include in their sells numbers from his year. MB Q1: 497 - 35 Smart cars=462, Q2:547-40 Smart cars=507, Q1+Q2=969, while BMW is 986.

Exactly.

When presenting monthly MB Cars sales reports Daimler AG includes MB V-class van sales to the "Mercedes Benz Cars" division, but in the interim quarterly reports V-class sales are a part of "Mercedes Benz Vans" division - as it should be since the financial reports are presented for each Daimler division separately. And V-class contributes sales & revenue to the Vans and not Cars division within Daimler!

Go figure!

Therefore - due to V-class van sales included - in monthly sales reports Jan-Jun 2016 MB brand sales figures show 1.006,619 MB-branded vehicles sold (vs 986.557 BMW-branded vehicles), while interim Q1+Q2 reports show a sales figure of 462k (Q1) + 507k (Q2) = 969k MB-branded vehicles sold in Jan-Jun 2016 period.

So, when V-class sales are excluded from monthly (and YTD) MB sales figures - which they should be since from the Daimler accounting point V-class is a part of MB Vans division within Daimler AG, and it contributes to that division revenues & total sales, not to the MB Cars division!!!! - the sales battle between BMW and MB worldwide stands @ BMW: 986k vs MB: 969k in the Jan-Jun 2016 period. So, BMW is still leading, for 17k units!

Why MB is using that dirty trick in (monthly) sales reports is beyond me. Some sort of "creative (ac)counting" by Daimler: presenting V-class sometimes as part of MB Cars division sales, sometimes as part of MB Vans division sales ... depends on report type. Since monthly sales reports differ from interim reports in that exactly point.

Weird, very weird. Such a cheap & dirty trick by Daimler. (n)

And here's the evidence:

Hahaha, MB includes the V class and Viano in it's car sales???

Desperate much???

The designs from BMW have been underwhelming of lately.
Sales are reflecting consumer perception.

In what alternate universerse?? Please tell us!

Maybe he means the truth with his opinion on the styling on a lot of new BMW models been underwhelming.

We don't care about opinions regarding design here in this thread. This thread is about hard data and BMW sells more than ever before. So what he said is absolute nonsense.

Mostly all german brands sell more each year than the year Before..what are you trying to say?

Read it again, it's not that hard to understand.

But I'll make it more easy: if sales are reflecting customer perception, the designs are not underwhelming.
I know this might be a bridge too far for you, but think about it.

Also, tell me if you need more markup code to make it easier for ya!

You are so agressive.. come here give me a hug.

Let me try to understand. You say as the sale increase each year it is impossible that the customers feel the designs are bad?
Ok but sales increase EVERY YEAR for EVERY german brand, does that then mean that their designs are stellar to?
What slicknick was trying to say ( i Think) is that the increase in sales (%) is lower at BMW than Mercedes for example ( this is why MB has caught up now) Look at the last few years, both of them have an INCREASE ofcourse, but MBs is larger.

You are trying to say that there has to be a minus number on the sales compared to previous year to say what slicknick is saying, i say that the lower precentage even if its a PLUS number can be related to how the consumer feels about the Product ( and a part of that Product is design, cause you can't fault a BMW on much else than design..it runs well Amazing drivetrains, descent quality and great brand image).

Do you understand what we are trying to say?

Simply put the numbers DO NOT HAVE TO BE BLACK (negative) to sense that there is a problem in Product perception, the lower INCREASE can still indicate that.
