Artist, I believe that this is the world premier of the new 6er. To the best of my recollection, the 6er was only revealed in media format whilst the LA Autoshow was underway.

From your statement I guess the American market is no longer important to BMW.

Far from it. Although it is no longer BMW's no1 market - It is now Germany. It is our current top export market with China now third which has dislodged the UK from the no3 position.
We have manufacturing in the US aswell as design studios and technology development facilities.

NAIAS focuses on the new Product such as the BMW 6er Convertible , BMW 1er Coupe and Convertible LCI and the BMW 1M Coupe making their public world premieres.

Geneva is more international and in terms of exposure highly signifcant for European manufacturers. China in this case Shanghai is a very important show especially for Premium European manufacturers because of rising sales in the Chinese market.

IAA Frankfurt is huge for the German industry and especially the domestic manufacturers. This is Germany as a Superpower in autombile terms.
Tokyo is a that kind of kooky event when anything is turned into mobility , other manufacturers play off the popular trends in Tokyo such as domestic tuners "2007 BMW 1er Coupe Tii Concept" plus the food is great.:D

According to my industry list : Mercedes are about to release the C-Klasse Coupe and SLK during the duration of the NAIAS in a similar fashion to the 6er Convertible. But there is some Geneva specific launches happening within the next two weeks.

Four actually : BMW 1er Coupe LCI and BMW Convertible LCI.
BMW 1M Coupe and BMW 6er Convertible.

Mercedes-Benz dont appear to have anything new , except to the CLS which premiered in Paris last October. (The C-Klasse is not on show in Detroit)

^Why are we seeing pictures from detroit on that car then?

And even better..4 world premieres..one must be happy

PS
You tell me something worthwhile instead.. will the new M5 be at geneva?

Scott > there is a rumour that BMW could show a 1 serie Concept a Geneva ... announcing the next F20 ? could you confirm that ?;)

in concept form, yes.

That 6 Series cab looks terrible. The wheels look too small, the colour doesn't suit it. I loved the coupe in Paris though.

Nice:D it will be more or less like the last M5 concept.. a production ready car?

Im asking cause im going

That 1M makes me feeling NAUGHTY all over!!! :hyper:
:icondrool In car enthusiast terms....pure 'car sex' right there.

6coupeplease.

The 6 Series Coupe will receive it's production premier at Geneva.

I'm going too. On the Friday.

I would imagine that the M5 Concept which will be shown will be 95% production ready. The only question is whether it will be a "mock-up" like the E60 at Geneva or a fully working concept.

They will Premiere the production car of the 1er Coupe Active eDrive @ Geneva.
They originally planned to unveil it in Detroit in response to the Premiere of the concept car in 2010. But management reckons that four world premieres were enough for Detroit. Geneva will have twice as many but you include models that you know that are coming such as the BMW 550i Touring and X1 with M-packet amongst the premieres. Plus MINI will be there with a World Premiere of both a Concept and Production car and you will see the Paceman make it's European debut. Rolls-Royce has something "extravagent" planned for Geneva.

According to my list the German automobile federation compiles so that manufacturers can schedule their releases
without overlap suggests both Mercedes-Benz and Audi will have Concepts with the Mercedes-Benz suggesting something A-Klasse based.
Norbert Reithofer will be back for Geneva he is always on extended holiday around this time of the year.

In Geneva 2004 we had two M5 Concepts, one that was on the platform with the orange lighting and another that was behind the stand which was the car Herr Stuck drove onto the stage at the press conference.
Kind of similar to the M3 Concept car in 2007.
