Concept Official: BMW Vision ConnectedDrive Concept for Geneva

Oh dear. The VED was a very good looking concept I thought. This on the other hand!

I see a lot of TRON-style graphics emerging lately, or is it just me?

Looks alright for a concept nevertheless.

I´ve never seen such an ugly BMW Concept. I don´t like ANY of the desig features. Neither the stupid looking frontlights, the grille is horrible and the rearlights are just excessive.

I hope SCOTT is right and only a few detail go into production for the Z2.

To Martin: Alright for a concept. But it will be completely forgotten in a year, and there is absolutely no relevance to this car.

BTW, alright basicly means avarage in this context. And avarage for a concept is not good imo. Don't feel this thing at all.

I don't see what this new concept introduces to the BMW design language. The rear looks like a cross between the 6 Series and VED, and the front looks like an extreme Z4. It doesn't bring anything new to the table.

What's with all these Concepts that never make it production BMW??

Last time I lost interest was when the CS Concept never made it into production. Come'on BMW, we've had CS Concept, M1 Hommage, VED concept and now this??

What I dislike most is the fact that the headlights are sort of cut off, and don't flow into the side panel at all. I really hope that is not a preview of future BMW design!!

I hope it too. I´m afraid, as I thought this was going to be kind of the new CS, I mean, the base fro the design of the upcomming BMW cars. But now I see it, I hope they just use a few touches of it in an small and exotic model, and forget about it forever and ever.

Actually the design of the BMW Vision Connected Drive harbours more interpretations of future BMWs than you think.

For example the swooping character line that begins from the rear and progresses to the front wings just aft of the door will be featured in upcoming models such as the BMW 1er and BMW 3er.
The BMW 3er Coupe will feature a similar idea here that runs right from the rear to the front what is interesting is that at the rear there is no line that cuts through the light unit cover as the headlights wrap around similar in shape to the E60 5er but are located under the character line. It gives the car a more dynamic and forward looking ,as if it is in motion impression.
Future BMW's will inherit surface and layer type design elements , either by folding into the body , overlapping or simply placed on top of the original design element.

Impressive BMW! Car looks great and I hope this is giving some insight on where BMW is going.

Scott I don't think there are any complaints about the shape and lines of this car, rather the head lights and rear lights are disastrous.

Really? The headlights and rear lights are a work of art. Plus keep in mind that this is a concept and not a production cars. Designs on most concepts are always adventurous.

Looks incredible, perfect future Z2 whith the obvius changes, see in your mind whith the production windshield and a few more details, has the charm and the touch that I expected from the new small BMW roadster.

The side view is simply fantastic

BMW presents new aspects of its distinctive driving pleasure to the motoring public with the development of concepts for electromobility. The 2011 International Motor Show is the venue for the world premiere of the BMW ActiveE, an emission-free vehicle that offers the sporty feel, so typical of the brand, to up to four people.

I agree! This is indeed an impressive car. I am not sure what the fuss is about. Yeah, it is a concept. It is going to be crazy and have some odd shapes and lines, simply because it is a concept. It is the starting point, the seed, for what is to come and I surely hope BMW follow. Yeah, alone as a concept it may not be that attractive, but if BMW feeds from this and uses some of this for future cars, especially an upcoming future sports car then I am all for it.

I think the lines, especially the lines that lead up to the headlights are refined and nice. The headlights remind me of the M1 concept that was out for a while and it seems that BMW is sticking to that design, in a way.
