BTW its says its the first diesel engine in the world developing more than 100hp/liter :cool:

1er (coupe, cabrio, 3dr hatch) is definitely the best candidate. :usa7uh:

Also 3.0L I6 engine in 325d (also 204PS / 400Nm) could be replaced with this new 2.0L VTT engine quite soon.

So will the new diesels be coming to the US? I would really like some diesels in the US.

VAG diesels can push out well over 100hp/liter if you get them remapped.
 
We are talking original out-of-the-factory engines here, not tuned ones.

Of course tuners can manipulate turbo engines to produce much more then the original out-of-the-factory ones.

Those words really do describe the engine in a good way and love to have one in a small car like the Mini or 1er. Torque beast right there, it will change peoples perceptions of diesel engines.

ANd it will be pretty sporty too with those twin turbos. Man I really like the idea of a diesel 1er Coupe.

The most important news sits under the bonnet, where all engines gain horsepower. We already knew the following changes: 116i (122 pk), 118i (136 pk), 120i (170 pk), 118d (136 pk) and 120d (177 pk). There also a version between 120i and 130i, the 123i (not 125i which would be expected from the cylinder capacity). This turbomotor provides 218 pk. The main newcomer is however a diesel engine: 123d. thanks to a small and large turbo this two litre,four cylinder has an output of no less than 204 pk.

Turbo, gasoline, 218hp, any truth in this Eni,scott?

We have announced NGI4 engines (HPI & turbo and VTT) several times.
Including 120si / 123i / 125i - or whatever the badge will be - with I4 turbo, and a 120sd / 123 d / 125d with I4 VTT. Both with over 200HP: 204HP & 218HP numbers have been also mentioned in that context several times.

The only question was WHEN & in WHICH MODEL first. Initial info indicated E81 1er3dr hatch, latest E82 coupe. Also when: at launch, or a year later.

As far as I know I4 petrol turbo is in development (testing phase), and will come sometimes down the time line.
