X1 The BMW X1 Facelift

The BMW X1 is a line of cars produced by BMW since 2009. A subcompact luxury crossover class, the first-generation X1 was based on the E90 3 Series and offered rear-wheel drive layout as standard. The second-generation X1 marked the switch to a front-wheel-drive-based layout using the UKL2 platform shared with the BMW 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman.

The successful Urban SUV from BMW already counts 275 000 units sold worldwide to date and it is now recieving its mid-circle refreshment, just in time for the beginning of sales in the US. The most noticable change is the new headlight design with LED accent lights and LED light rings for the LED daytime running lights in conjunction with optional Xenon lights combined with new foglamp surrounds. The plastic bordering at the lower edge of the body is also reduced and the side indicators are now integrated into the exterior mirrors. Also, new exterior colours and alloy wheels are now availiable.

The LCI marks the beginning of availiability of BMW Lines in BMW's X models. BMW xLine accentuates the robust diversity of the new BMW X1 with BMW Sport Line emphasisong its agility and dynamics. M Sportpackage will be offered as a further option. The integration of BMW EfficientDynamics technology is also comprehensive: Auto Start-Stop function for manual models as well as those with eightspeed automatic transmission, ECO PRO mode (optional), Brake Energy Regeneration, Electric Power Steering, Optimum Shift Indicator, disengageable climate compressor are now availiable in the X1.

KUDOS to the X1 23d

I do want to ad this. I am by now used to BMW M power, V8 TT from my X6 M. So, the wife's main commute the X1 23d's engine is still a real jewel! it may be a tad bid noisy but boy does that I4 TT pull and go! I clocked +/- 242 km/h on the speedo and the GPS read a stunning 238 km/h!(she has done 16000km only) At the stop light put your foot on the brake and rev her up to 1800rpm, let go of the brake (as the light goes green) and she'l leave behind many hot hatches and even bigger cars e.g. my brothers E53 X5 3.0d;)

My point is this, the engine as is, is a real eye opener and will even impress Tumbo:D The X1 is a great car to live with and handling is pure E90 sedan, despite being higher from ground zero. It truly is a BMW, make no mistake! (I am not going to gripe all over again about tactile quality, has nothing to do with the masterpiece of the engine)

So then, these figures of the upgraded engine (was it really even necessary!?) is truly amazing.

BMW X1 headed to Detroit with minor updates

Features additional standard equipment and new options
BMW has announced plans to introduce an updated X1 at the North American International Auto Show.

Set to go on sale next spring, the updated model features standard daytime driving lights and 17-inch alloy wheels with a V-spoke design. The model can also be ordered with a new Sparkling Brown metallic exterior.

Interior changes are limited but xLine, Sport Line and M Sport variants have an instrument cluster visor that is covered in a new soft-touch material. The model also has a stainless steel tailgate sill and three new interior trims: high-gloss black, matte coral red and pearl-gloss chrome.

Lastly, the X1 has an expanded range of BMW ConnectedDrive services including Online Entertainment and an ECO PRO Analyzer.

Well, never thought this would happen but I actually have an opinion on this car. Lol. I got the facelifted X1 as a loaner from my dealership today. It's surprisingly a good car, and there aren't many areas with really cheap plastics. The car isn't "premium" IMO, but still above the feel of a Rav4 or something. It drives quite decently too, the ride is firm but comfortable. Seating position is pretty good.
