For such a great car as this, I think the N-Ring time is a huge disapointment. I was expecting below 8:10, after all the fuzz this car has been creating in all tests. I mean, only 2 seconds faster then the RS3? In some tests, it was 4 seconds faster in laps that took 1-2 minutes... .Weird.

M135i chassi suspension is too soft and the car lacks mechanical diff. For the money the performance is great but all review says the car is better allrounder/everyday car than a track car. You simply have to wait for proper M-version.
Below 8.10 min? your expectations are way too high. I have said around 8.17 min for months now.

Well, I quote myself:

You have to understand. There is a differences between tracks and tracks, some cars adjust better to a certain layout of a track. N-ring is one special track, thats for sure.
Also you must remember, this test is done a different time than they did with RS3 and 1M. A head to head test is more revealing.

Now, M135i also exist with AWD , would be intresting to see how quick AWD version is.

This. I think RS3 was tested in May or something when the track wasn't probably freezing cold like it probably is now. Anyway, the awesomeness of M135i is not in lap times, but the way it drives in an affordable package.

Noo why did they change their system :)
The old one was unfair. For instance the M135i got 10/10 points for its Nordschleife-time, because it is the best in its category. According to the old methode it would get 4 or 5 points max.

Hi, i was wondering if the testcar also came with the standard M suspension or the optional adaptive one, as every review i have seen so far had the adaptive suspension. Did thet say anything about fuel economy compared to the automatic version?

Kind regards

Hi, this testcar was equipped with the adaptive suspension as well.
The consumption is much lower with the manual gearbox: their average is 10,0 l/100 km instead of 13,6 of the automatic-version.

I must concede with DeDe's superior knowledge his opinion of the time the M135i would achieve was spot on and I was well wide of the mark which does surprise me because I honestly expected it to be quicker, maybe as Sunny said the track conditions weren't ideal.

This is one occasion where the M-Performance has exceeded expectation IMO because its a little firecracker.

Keep in mind that most of the sedan sportcars tested by Sport Auto that are faster on the Nordschleife like BMW M3, Mercedes C63 AMG etc. were only about 10 seconds faster, and came equipped with sportreifen (semi-slick types) and a limited slip differential. If you compare it to the BMW 1M coupe the Nordschleife time is impressive to say the least, because the M135i is a much better car to live with every day. Maybe the standard suspension will make it a few seconds quicker, although it might be stiffer and thus compromise its everyday usability and we have not seen any test of it yet.

Think of this car as a very fast compact (faster than standard 911 manual to 100 km/h, as measured by Sport Auto), with low fuel consumption for the performance it offers, that is usable every day and sufficiently practical and that is, although not the fastest thing imaginable on track, offers loads of fun while doing it. And all that at a very reasonable price point, if you ignore the luxury items on the options list.

Exactly :)

I fall in love with this car... more and more... everything but the front!
Can't wait to see the 2-Series as I'm sure the M235i will be the best car in the world when price is considered too :)

^ easy bro there is still M4 and M2 to come :D but when you need Power,Handling + economy this M235i would be the best choice :D
