Random thoughts thread? Very nice idea! Here are a few of my random thoughts of today:
1. I hate those who don't use their turn signals. I am not proud that today I lost my patience and shouted at an idiot "take your hand off your pants and use the damn signal". That happend downtown while kind of stuck in traffic, which resulted in a small number of pedestrians bursting into laughs. In case it doesn't sound funny here, to my defence, it does work in greek
2. My relationship with cupholders is a love-hate one. I curse the french automotive industry every morning because my Clio doesn't have a cupholder, but when I take the Volvo, I curse the american automotive industry, because the S60 has 4 of them and I only have one coffee.
3. I need to stop @#$% around with the Clio. Half of me says that I'm too old for this sith, while the other part keeps reminding me that even though an airfield is starting to form where I used to have hair on my head, I am still 12 years old. Bottom line, I need a new clutch and a new cylinder head gasket.
4. I recently bought my first item from ebay. It was a steering wheel which costed me 1€ plus shipping. A total of 16€. Which is amazing, because the steering wheel was practically new and unused and also because the local Renault dealership asked something around 200€ for this. Now, I have been searching the whole world and I still can't find a gear lever.
In my quest for the said gear lever, the following discussion took place via telephone, between me and the spare parts office of Renault Greece:
Giannis: Hello
Renault: Hello Sir
G: I'd like to order the gear lever of a 1990 Renault Clio with manual gearbox
R: Yes sir, it would cost you 120€
G: Sir, you didn't understand. I don't want the whole gearbox, only the lever.
R: Yes sir, 120€
G: For the tiny plastic part?
R: Yes sir
G: Ok, thanks and goodbye.

Random thought of the day. The engine of my Volvo is a 2.0 turbocharged one and is hypersquare. That's nice, because that bloody engine likes to rev, having a redline a bit over 7000. On the other hand, with a logical cost, I can put in the crankshaft and rods of the 2.5 engine, and make mine a 2.5 turbo, which translates at around 70hp plus. But then I will have an undersquare engine.
Rev happiness vs 70hp more. Who said that taking decisions is easy?

New random thought. Unless my clutch master cylinder stops squicking (or someone buys me a new one) I swear to God, my next argument will be called "a hammer" and I won't be gentle with it. And no, I'm not going to look it in the eyes, when I will say "Asta la vista baby"

In order to get my heart rate/exercise regimen intact while at the same time being a paranoid freak who carries around some heavy duty pepper spray and a stun gun at all times, I got a punching bag, and beat the crap out of it until I can barely swing my arms anymore. Two birds, one stone.
