E-Class W212 [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W212) Facelift

The W212 and S212 Mercedes-Benz E-Class series is the fourth generation of the E-Class range of executive cars which was produced by Mercedes-Benz between 2009 and 2016 as the successor to the W211 E-Class. The body styles of the range are either four-door sedan/saloon (W212) or a five-door estate/wagon (S212).
When I look at recent MBs and mostly the FL E-Class, the A-Class and the CLA I really cannot see them as Mercedes-Benz cars AT ALL... WTF happened to my brand ??
I was ready to buy the SL but then it got unveiled... and OMG it was a real pain to look at...
I was ready to change my 5-Series with the FL E-Class but DAMN...
I want an S-Class to be my next car but now I'm not sure there's even a slight chance for that to happen...
I so much want to drive a brand new Mercedes... but one that I like, one that doesn't exist.

The Sports grill looks better. Mercedes should give serious consideration to moving the star to the grill for all their cars. The star on the grill gives the Mercedes a more dynamic sporty look.

As it stands now only a small percentage of the Mercedes cars have it on the hood. It is old school and Mercedes cars with the star on the hood look like a Cairo Taxi.

:( can't have that

I have the same feeling, I want a new Mercedes, but yeah that.

Having read this discussion for a while, I decided to sign up and give my 2 cents...

While I think the W212 facelift looks pretty good, I am with KA here. I got myself a 2012 S212 this March knowing FL was coming but figured it would turn out similar subtle FL they did with W211. Well, obviously that is not the case and even my wife thought they had launched a completely new model! Needless to say I'm pissed off. Nothing against facelifts, I used to have a w203 purchased just before the FL and I didn't care as the changed were only recognizable for car nuts. But this, it looks like a new car. When you by an MB, you obviously pay for the brand image as well, otherwise I'd be buying something cheaper. Then, with this logic, I would expect to have a relevant looking car for as long as the model stays current and there is not a new one coming out.

Really disappointed, think I will get rid of the car and MB for that matter. I'll probably be on the Porsche forum instead :)

LOL! Buy another car then or just wait until the next generation.

As time goes by ... if you want a classic car ... buy one ...

The success of the C-Class starting with the Sports Grill was tremendous. Of course we don`t like it or, better to say, I`d prefer the difference shown between sedans and sports cars to be expressed by the use of the respective front but the market seems to ask for other solutions. Tooooo bad!

I'll say this. It appears the grilles are not interchangable as they are on the C. That, IMO, is a huge mistake. On a C, we can remove the hood mounted star, and add the star grille, or vice versa. it is relatively inexpensive and it has been a big help, and even closed some sales.

The Sports grill looks better. Mercedes should give serious consideration to moving the star to the grill for all their cars. The star on the grill gives the Mercedes a more dynamic sporty look.

Couldn't disagree more. Aside from personal preferences (sports grille yes/no or classic grille yes/no), I really don't understand why M-B is giving away so easy such an unique item as the Star on the hood? Non of the direct competitors has such a jewel. What's wrong with some authentic traditions in this ever changing times? Hasn't the Star always shown our direction?

Old school, old fashioned? The vast majority of A-Class (W168/W169) buyers were older people, pensioners. That with a "sporty" central Star grille and no Star on the hood! Almost 70% of C-Class buyers (in Germany) have chosen the version with the central Star grille. Is this an argument for the sports grille? Could it not be, that the popular Avantgarde-line, only available with the central Star grille, is the reason for that?

Time will tell, but I really hope all sedans/limousines will have a classic grille in future.

I always liked the star because it served as a guide for where the right front tire would track parking next to a curb.

Yea...It's just something about it that bothers me. The press photos made it look more solid. IRL photos makes it look like a list minute decision.

I'm still figuring the car out so give me sometime. ;)

Have to see it irl for final judgement. Judging this photo, not my cup of tea. But no problem, because the classic grille is available as well:)

The chrome surrounding the grille should come to the hood shut line. It just doesn't look right. Or have no chrome surround at all, like the C-class.

Idk what most here are talking about. it looks like a modern mercedes and what a modern is suppose to look like. It's definitely not what I'm used to when I look at a Benz but it will all grow in me and many of u.
