In 30 minutes' time I will take delivery of a new car. My beloved little WRX hatch is going.
The purchase is driven less by my passion for motoring and far more by an objective and considered view of what my needs are for a vehicle primarily utilised for business purposes. So in effect this is as much a calculated business decision as it is a personally motivated one. The brief is as follows:
The purchase is driven less by my passion for motoring and far more by an objective and considered view of what my needs are for a vehicle primarily utilised for business purposes. So in effect this is as much a calculated business decision as it is a personally motivated one. The brief is as follows:
- The car will be used for travelling to the office and to & from customers
- It's a city car and will only be used on tarred roads - it'll see gravel 0.1 % of its tenure
- The emphasis is on efficiency; good fuel economy and ease of getting around are paramount
- It must have better than average residual value
- It should reflect my position as the head of my business division without being showy or flashy
- It must achieve a proper compromise between ride and handling
- It should have sufficient legroom for four adults if need be
- It should be pragmatic and sensibly affordable but not cheap
- ...and lastly - it should still be a car that will engage my passion for driving
