I have also Bought a New Car...

In 30 minutes' time I will take delivery of a new car. My beloved little WRX hatch is going.

The purchase is driven less by my passion for motoring and far more by an objective and considered view of what my needs are for a vehicle primarily utilised for business purposes. So in effect this is as much a calculated business decision as it is a personally motivated one. The brief is as follows:
  • The car will be used for travelling to the office and to & from customers
  • It's a city car and will only be used on tarred roads - it'll see gravel 0.1 % of its tenure
  • The emphasis is on efficiency; good fuel economy and ease of getting around are paramount
  • It must have better than average residual value
  • It should reflect my position as the head of my business division without being showy or flashy
  • It must achieve a proper compromise between ride and handling
  • It should have sufficient legroom for four adults if need be
  • It should be pragmatic and sensibly affordable but not cheap
  • ...and lastly - it should still be a car that will engage my passion for driving
In the recent spirit of having some fun at asking members to guess - what have I bought?

Pragmatic, sensible, better than average residual, not showy or flashy. Hmm, I'd be tempted to say VW Golf. But I'm not sure if it reflects your position as head of your business division. That being the case I'd vote BMW 320d

PS Not C-Klasse because new modell is due 2014 (residual)

This board is full of copy cats..everyone gets new car :D

Its no Subaru, perhaps BMW X1?

I have it. It's downstairs in the parking lot.

Hints: It's not new - has 18 000 km on it - and it's not AWD. One of you is closest - in fact one of you is spot on! ;) Man, this is fun.

BMW 1-series

I almost bought a 125i Sport in white with red leather seats - stunning but I'm afraid the hot hatch years are well and truly behind me. I also strongly considered an X1 xDrive28i but was put off by the potential fuel bills.

Heve you even read the testdrives of the new A3? Geez

Tumbo, I looked at the A3 in depth. As an overall product it's probably the premium hatch class leader still - all things considered - but yes, ACE is correct, my FWD days are over.
