The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured and marketed by BMW since 1972. The car is sold as either a sedan or, since 1991, a station wagon (marketed as "Touring"). A 5-door fastback (marketed as "Gran Turismo") was sold between 2009 and 2017. Each successive generation has been given an internal G-code designation since 2017. Previously, a F-code designation was used between 2010 and 2016, while an E-code designation was used between 1972 and 2010. These are used to distinguish each model and generation from each other.
It'll be a minimum 4-5 years before i think of doing anything like that. *sigh* But you are right about being forever beautiful...such a well-balanced design.
Just look at the E39 VS ANY car during its time. It was amongst the safest, best handling, most luxurious, etc. No cost cutting in the core development of that car, hence how ahead of the curve it was and how great it did so many things. I dare any car to claim anything like that today!
The last version of the E39, with the angel eyes and all the "new" stuff, is my favorite BMW ever.
Kind of like the last A4 B5 with the facelift and all. Just perfection. M5 E39 from around 2000, is one of my dremcars. (Just as the RS4 B5 from the same era)
Yea I really love the E39, undoubtedly the best BMW ever, and one of the best cars ever made (if not the best). l'd do anything for a 530i Sport Champagne Edition (Individual run-out model)! would be my perfect everyday "old BMW".
I got all the pictures off http://www.mad4wheels.com/ , its an absolutely superb website with official manufacturer pictures for just about every make. Its easier to just search the manufacturers name as the search engine is dimwitted to say the least( for example 5 Series yields no result, yet 5er shows all 5 Series pics)
Here's an oddity that shows up on my algo from time to time...
MVR 560i, an E39 with a V12...
I don't really remember this the first time around, but I do remember MVR, they did a bodykit for the Z3 which (at the time) I thought looked fantastic.... Must dig out that issue of BMWCar some time.
