The RS3 was actually almost a full second faster around the track. Not sure how it got killed there.
That aside I would snatch the bimmer with out hesitation. It's the most impressive BMW at the moment at least in my opinion, and I actually think looks preety good in that video.

Driver enjoyment is all you care for when you take your daily to the track :)

Very true, though the thought of hammering my own car hard around a track isn't something I would want to do on a regular basis. The bottom line is understeer on a track is a total and utter killjoy and the more your 'normal' tyres heat up the worse this gets, the RS3 makes for a very good road car, blindingly quick road car I might add but no trackday special.

The sad truth for Audi fans is that even quattroGmbH couldn't transform the A3 into something that special........ here's hoping the replacement fulfill that promise.

True :)
I hammered my car a few times on a track... and once I went wide on the exit of a corner... it wasn't anything special, it does happen in racing... but thinking of what the chicane could have done to my precious bumper gave me shivers down my spine...

Does the new S3 use a different quattro system to the RS3?? Because that would seem to be one of the only ways to quell the massive understeer

There is no way S3 is using Haldex. To me Haldex has always been the cheap all-wheel drive system. I have yet to see of a car competing with Quattro or lately BMW's xDrive that would be equipped with a Haldex system.

Quoting from audi.de

^I'm pretty sure it's at least one of the many versions of Haldex, the question is which one. Anyhow if they get the front tied down in the corner I don't care what system is in use.

I personally have never heard anything positive about any Haldex system ... I really hope that the new S3 doesn't have that.
