M3/M4 [Official] BMW M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe


The BMW M3 is a high-performance version of the BMW 3 Series, developed by BMW's in-house motorsport division, BMW M GmbH. M3 models have been produced for every generation of 3 Series since the E30 M3 was introduced in 1986. The BMW M4 is a high-performance version of the BMW 4 Series automobile developed by BMW's motorsport division, BMW M, that has been built since 2014. As part of the renumbering that splits the coupé and convertible variants of the 3 Series into the 4 Series, the M4 replaced those variants of the BMW M3. Official website: BMW M

The BMW M4 Convertible will make its public debut at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed. It’s the first time the new M cabriolet model has been confirmed, and it will join the new M3 saloon and M4 coupe, with an M4 Gran Coupe almost certain to follow.

Nothing further has been revealed, though it’s easy to join up the dots and work out what the car will consist of. The M4 coupe’s drivetrain will gain a new drop-top body, in this case the folding hard-top setup of the 4-series Convertible. The good news is a clever and intricate mechanism and better refinement than a traditional soft-top; the bad news for dynamic sharpness is a likely 300kg rise in kerb weight, the equivalent of around a 20 per cent rise over the new M4’s 1497kg figure. Ouch.

At least there ought to be a solid portion of power to make sure the M4 Convertible won’t be described as ‘slow’. It will doubtless take the 423bhp, 369lb ft 3-litre straight-six twin-turbo already revealed in the M3 and M4. Expect a limited 155mph top speed and a 0-60 time of around five seconds. A six-speed manual gearbox is likely to be standard, with BMW's seven-speed DCT twin-clutch paddle-shift an option. We’re yet to drive the new core M car, so can’t make any predictions about the cabrio’s driving experience, but its M3 Convertible predecessor carried a similar weight penalty and inevitably lost some focus.

Expect the M4 Convertible to cost around £60,000. Firmer details will arrive when the Festival of Speed takes place on June 26-28, by which time we should have told you how talented its M3 and M4 relatives are, too. BMW will also show a 30th birthday special edition of the M5 saloon. Whether the treatment will extend beyond cosmetic tweaks courtesy of additional power or mechanical changes is currently undisclosed.

There's a 4 series M/Sport in our town that I'm seeing regularly and it is by far the best looking BMW in recent years. It's got twin pipes one on each side but if de-badged so don't know if its a 35i or 35d.

One of guys who I deal with in my business has an M4 on order I believe due either late Apr/early May so I'm dying to see it and get a drive in. Will post pics when here.

That's rather easy. 435i. The 435d has dual exhaust on ONE side.
Twin pipes on each sides means quad exhaust though, and that would be an M4.
