P1 [Official] McLaren P1 Supercar

The McLaren P1 (codenamed P12) is a flagship sports car produced by McLaren Automotive. It is the second installment in McLaren's Ultimate Series after the McLaren F1. Considered to be the spiritual successor to the F1, the P1 was one of the first high performance sports cars to be introduced incorporating hybrid technology; the Porsche 918 Spyder having begun taking orders prior to the P1 and the LaFerrari introduced alongside it.
What an interior! Pure function over form and yet that form is still arty. But wait - here goes my rant again... No RHD - for a British car. What the..?

Nice slicks BTW ;)

OMG! What an interior. Pure racing, and it still has Navi and Meridian soundsystem. Love it. The interior feels lighter than an Elise. Also 9K RPM. Highest revving turbocharged production car? That is defintely where the added power comes from.

crappy interior. looks cheap and will feel cheap with all the hard surfaces. the instrument cluster and the steering wheel dont line up, they should have known at the CAD stage.

I now totally believe the talks that Mercedes was so disgusted with the original interior of the SLR designed by McLaren that they decided to design a new interior themselves.

Those hard surfaces are pure carbon fiber.

Maybe they've finally realized they've been driving on the wrong side of the road :-D.

Notice the air inlet running through the door from the front to the back.

Oh yes i do complain indeed..
They could have achived the same weight, and same functionality with a more eye catching interior that is up to par for the million euro they are asking for the damn car.

I expect that they try real hard when they want that much money, just wait and see the F150 im sure it will be much more special interior wise than this.

So far we have 3 other cars in the million euro class to compare with:

The Porsche also weighs almost as much as a Veyron. Now we'll have to wait for the specs. Who know which of the cars will be the lightest. BTW Ferrari interior may look good, but still stays italian and won't have the quality of a Porsche or McLaren. And the Pagani interior is not really light eighter. The Huayra F or R can lose alot of weight if they make it "race".

Just because a car costs one million big ones, why should they fit it out with superfluous items that add nothing to its purpose? The 430 Scuderia didn't have carpets yet cost more than an F430. Is that bad value?

If you share Jeremy Clarkson's belief system, then yes:rolleyes:

No the Porsche weighs 1700kg that's nearly 200kg less than the veyron. And that's mainly due to the hybrid system.
The interior has probably been scrutinized in the weight department like the rest of the car, to accommodate the weight of the hybrid system. And still it looks THAT good..so go figure.

The ferrari should be the lightest from what the rumors say so far.

I think its time to leave the old school ideas you have in your head, Ferrari has upped their quality to a very high level, its not 1980.

Now where did you get the proof of Mclaren having extra ordinary quality? the F1 was produced in so low numbers its not even significant, so that leaves you with the Mp4-12C is it really remarkably higher quality than its competition?

The Pagani is a god damn light car let me tell you that..at 1350kg that's about as good as it gets for the time being.. The
But you are right..there will probably be even lighter versions in the future.

Its not about adding items..its about designing what is needed in a more attractive package than that.
F the carpets..throw them out..i do not care.. just make it look good enough.
None of the above cars i posted have many superfluous items in the cabin.. as they are like mclaren very keen on keeping the weight low. Its not a secret that heavy cars are no good for performance;)

I like how even the CF doesn't have a thick layer of clear coat to make it all glossy and shiny.
Call my cynical but I bet the glossy clear coat on the carbon fiber will be an expensive option.

It is very strange, especially when the P1 uses the same basic carbon fiber tub as the MP4-12c

If I recalled the Enzo and its predecessors were just as bare, if not more so, and they were plenty pricy. This is not a luxury car.

YES! Please go discuss the A-Class interior or whatever... that's the 2nd best interior ever in a car... the first place is taken by the F1 of course! It is almost perfect! Everything you need in a car that is SO ENGAGING... anyone that wants more in this interior is far from a real driving enthusiast! Ohhhhhhh so GOOOOOOOD!

Mclaren released a bit more technical information on their facebook page. The battery stack looks pretty big, interesting to note that the car can be driven in pure electric mode.
