I always think the design of new s class just link c class headlight and old slk class back...
When you sit in the SL's beautiful interior, the slightly off centre screen is nary and issue and barely noticeable.
I disagree. Having sat in it at the Geneva motor show in March, it looks terrible and is perfectly noticeable, something which I was happy to point out to everybody who was around me looking at the SL.

LOL. Sounds like something I would do.
That you have to point it out though really says something about how noticeable it is. They were obviously too busy ogling at the other beautiful details.
The fact that you like the W221 says something. When that design debuted, droves of people were lamenting it's Korea-inspired bulbous fenders. So many people yelled "That doesn't look German! All hail the Korean S-class!" Now people like you see it as timeless. Very interesting.
it looks much better in this pic, maybe it was the colorThat horror!!![]()
Switching to the larger COMAND Online screen may have caused it, per previous GCF discussion.
Should they have stuck to the smaller one?
The initial R231 layout shows a smaller COMAND screen centered between circular air vents.

The larger R231 production COMAND Online screen pushes one gimbal vent off center.
When a person drop 120k on a brand new Benz they many disreguard that offset. Screen but still Mercedes should have e everything as proportional snit can be esperacially for the price you're pay for it. I don't see how they are planning to take on Bentley and rolls Royce with these silly mistakes but I still have High hopes for the s classWow, how hideous and unacceptable. Only M-B is getting away with messes like this these days. A bigger COMAND screen is fine and all (it doesn't seem bigger than any other M-B's?), but c'mon, even entry level cars get harmonious and straight design! This crooked look on a $120K car is ridiculous.
Most people aren't very detail oriented which is why they won't notice, not to mention, the angle from the driver seat makes it harder to notice. However, it's a shame that M-B are officially catering to those who won't pay attention to details.
Well Mercedes has just anounced to slash down the S-Class production due to bad sales
The gloomy clouds that once dangled only over the southern parts of Europe have now moved across the continent and are affecting more and more companies, including Mercedes-Benz that has cut one of the two production shifts it normally runs for its current generation S-Class at the Sindelfingen plant in Germany.
The decision was made after European sales of its flagship model dropped by 27 percent to 5,227 units in the first eight months of the year, according to data provided by market researchers JATO Dynamics.
Reuters reported that the move will result in about 8,000 fewer S-Class cars being built in the fourth quarter of the year.
Mercedes said that the plant will return to a two shift operation once it introduces the next generation of the S-Class in the summer of 2013.
"Workers manufacturing the S-Class will be reassigned to the C-Class assembly line during this period," Mercedes-Benz's parent company Daimler said in a statement on Wednesday.
If only it was blown up we could see how good or bad that digital cluster is and whats new w/ the COMAND system
The new S-Class will be revealed in 2013 - and here is, in addition to many known spy pictures, the interior. We present a look at the interior of the luxury vehicle in the more exclusive AMG variant.
While the interior of the new S-Class, which will be celebrating its world premiere in 2013, is completely redrawn like the exterior, a few things are reminiscent of its predecessor (W221). The interior shows in addition to new air vents and the analog clock, an instrument cluster based on an entire screen, and to the right of it a navigation screen.
The speedometer tops out at 320 km/h, while the shift lever is - as usual - mounted on the right side of the steering wheel. The steering wheel buttons are new as well.
