Btw,

F30 3er designers:

- exterior design by Chris Weil (same guy who penned 5er GT F07 exterior),
- interior by Christian Bauer (same guy who designed F12/14 6er interior).

I can really see the 6er influence in the interior with the sweeping lines. He made the interior much more playful whereas the 5er and 7er are more austere and business-like.

The 6er interior would look better with the 3-Series' climate control/stereo surrounding metal trim IMO.

F30 with M package looks nice . So M package will be available from beginning when new model is launched ? Thats good news, because I won't need to wait half year longer for a car with a M package

They only need to show the individual line now and why not the M3 As for the downsides, as usual with every post E65 BMW, there are areas where the cutting costs measures are blatantly obvious, like the total absence of advanced LED technology for lights, a pity really as the headlights are clearly made with the 6er leds in mind. Same for the interior, great original concept, you can particulary see it in the sketches, they tried to apply some VED layering here, but you only see a hint of that on the upper dashboard, all the rest got wiped by technical and financial considerations and we are left with the rest of it which sometimes look like messy cheap blocks of plastic everywhere, this is acceptable in a 1er, not in this car, and so it's the e87-e90 all over again.

I think it's gorgeous looking, a definite improvement on not only the E90 but the F10 too which is saying something.

Damn shame about those headlights. Interior looks inviting, but overall the 5 series is still BMW's best looking sedan.

And that bumper is way over designed.

It's a very good looking car, but I'm slightly disappointed by the finish and details quality. It lacks the finesse that you see in every single Audi model.
I think Christopher Weil did a better job on the 5er GT which looks fantastic for what it is.

The interior is a mess, just like every new BMW modell except the 5er and the 7er. The sketch above gives a good idea of how the design came to be. I'm sad that it's sometimes so hard to translate a sketch into reality. And it's not (always) a lack of competence from the design side.
There are a lot of good ideas on every corner of the car, but the all lack the final touch.

Anyways, cars are never designed based on photos, but on a physical model. So I'm gonna wait and have my final thoughts when seeing the car in person

I guess those numbers won't be as impressive this time around if the Coupe & Convertible become the 4 series. But your point in highlighting just how important the 3er is to BMW is clearly visible!

The 3 series is BMW, all the other models are BMW's.

Okay.. So hear is my first reaction:

- front - Hmm... not really sure. Somehow, I see the old old 5 series in there. Do I like it? Maybe... Do I hate it? No. I hat the 1er of all my soul, but this... this may work.

- rear - Seriously? I thought it was the 5 series when I see this pic:

Where is your imagination BMW??? The 5er is not an ugly car. But to copy the rear fully? Eh... bummer...

And people complain about Audis looking alike... haha

- interior - I just dont understand why BMW uses so many dark and plastic parts. I think their interiors look so cheap, and this one.. is no different.

Overall? Meh.. It's okay.
