I never thought I would say this, but this seems more appropriate as a KIA design :( Damn, this thing is just so ugly.

Does anyone happen to still have that one leaked sketch of a 1er coupe by Anders Warming?
it had head lights that looked like they were inspired by the Mille Milgia Concept.

Comparing new 1-series with A3 and Golf makes the bimmer looking even worse. The profile actually look good in comparison but the front and rear is a disaster. Not what I expected from BMW. I'm actually quite mad.

Imagine if the front lights looked like this, then I would be extremely pleased.

Those figures from the 1.6T are truly amazing, well done BMW.

^^Are you seroiusly saying the Bimmer looks worse than the 2 most BORING looking cars on the planet? Really? Oh and that sketch, a big NO NO. That looks awkward. :D

I gotta say:

Some pics it looks good, some pics it looks okay, some pics it looks weird and some pics it looks disgusting!!
It's a mixed bag overall so far, but I agree with the people who find it odd looking. Fair enough Tumbo/Artist?? ;)

What's particularly strange is that the 1er (big volume seller) is getting such a love it or hate it exterior. That was reserved for the 7er last gen, with the 1er and 3er the most normal looking Bimmers....BMW made a complete 180 here.

Arfff, so much later than I initially expected.

Couldn't wait myself. Needed to buy this year not next.

Good way to annoy 1M owners by offering what I thought was supposed to be an M only colour (Valencia Orange) on this car.

Indeed. So much for exclusivity. What about the talk it may have gone to M6? Talk about cheapening the VO.

@Scott. Any details on colour choices for F20 M sport?

Funny how a different day seems to make the F20 look better than it did before, no doubting the M Sport will look much better than these two.

Not so much later. 1er arrives on the market in September - the timeframe is similar to the F10/F10 M-Sport, around six months.

Fair enough man.. :)
And you raise a good point..its a volume seller..with such a polarizing design..wonder how it will play out..
Its easy to play with design on low volume cars..but this is different..

The M pack time is OK, but I thought the 3dr would arrive in late summer or so.

klier, now you mention the polarizing 7er. I see the front end of this car as the heir of the pre-LCI E65 7er. To me that front end looked like crap when I initially saw it, but now I see a few 745iL with white blinkers and the front end looks almost nice. Will I think the same with this new 1er? Only time will tell.

For now on, I´ve change my plans. I guess no 1er for the moment, but maybe something spicier.

What about a Rocketman Cooper S?.

SKY:

Rocketman Cooper S (Works?) sounds extremely good. And one thing is for sure; it looks a lot better than new 1er.
And the pre LCI E65 was much worse looking than the new 1er from the front in my opinion.

Yeah, I really wonder what Scott has to say about this. 7er looks almost dull now, compared to 1er...

We actually put the 1er through a test clinic in several European cities. Design was never a problem because as I said pictures do not do the car justice.
If customers tell us that "I do not like the way it looks" then the designers right up to the board are notified of the outcome.
Design was never a complaint and these were 1er owners and manufacturers of other Compact hatches.

... the A3 is nothing but ....

....available in the US.

While apparently, this will not be.

I am waiting to see this in the 128i and 135i, m-sport, and silver before I offer my final opinion. I would say it looked better in the video. And it looks better in metallic colors. Would like to see it in silver still. Would like to see it in the US.

I agree completely - I seem to like it most in red - it's certainly not a timid design, which can only be a good thing.
