September Update Prt 2: What has gone before...

All this time thinking Merc was wrong with the S-Coupe, E-Coupe, C-Coupe and another small Coupe to come, and now BMW wants another Coupe?.

If design is different enough, just renaming the 1er and 3er to 2er and 4er should be enough to meet the rivals.

Doesn't sound like a good plan to me. 5-series Coupe made with this cost-cutting method is ought to become as succesful as the 3-series Compact. If BMW was seriously thinking about this they would probably have given the 6er another production code than F12.

Hmm... 5er cabrio... Where did I see it after that E34 M5 convertible... Ah! The E60 convertible. This one is fitted with optional E36 interior :D

The 6 Series would need to be evolved past that of the current generation into more a CL competitor. Over-saturation of the market isn't always necessary to maintain growth. Producing the best cars on the market however, is. BMW should be concentrating on the upcoming 3 Series.

I guess the 6series really needs to be different for a 5series coupe to exist. The 6series is in the middle between stuff like the A5 and CL, push it up towards a CL but that would make the 6series a 7series coupe, but with a "lower" series number while probably costing more. So why not just keep the 6series as a 5series coupe, and introduce an 8 series?

Instead of seeking out and moving towards competition, BMW should celebrate having identified, filled, and profited from discovering a fairly uncrowded gap!

Vive la serie
6 nuova!,

I wish they'd to a proper 8-Series. The 840I/850I is such a legend.
