Z Series BMW Z4 Coupé Picture Thread

The BMW Z models are a line of roadsters manufactured by German automaker BMW. The Z stands for Zukunft (German for future), and has been produced in four different series with six generations consisting of roadster, coupé, sports car, and concept variants. The introduction of the M Coupé and M Roadster in the Z3 line marked the first of the Z series to have a high-performance BMW M variant. The first generation Z4 also continued to offer M Coupé and M Roadster variants. The current Z4 (G29) uses BMW's (B58B30) inline-six, its platform is the basis for the current Toyota Supra.

Z4 3.0

Concentrating on the essential within the interior.
With its clear forms and designs, the interior has a sporting and purist touch, while at the same time boasting a wide range of equipment, high quality materials, and carefully matched colours. To offer the driver individual choice, the BMW Z4 Coupé is available with no less than ten non-metallic and metallic paintwork colours, eight interior colours, two options in either plain leather or gloss leather, as well as five decorative trim versions.

Prize-winning 3.0-litre power unit.
The 3.0-litre six-cylinder featured in the BMW Z4 Coupé 3.0si has won the Engine of the Year Award several times. Maximum output is 195 kW/265 hp at 6,600 rpm, with torque peaking at 315 Nm/232 lb-ft consistently all the way from 2,500–4,000 rpm. And at the same time the engine naturally complies in full with the EU4 and ULEV II emission standards.

This innovative power unit sets the standard worldwide in terms of motoring culture, output per litre, power-to-weight, and specific fuel consumption. Acceleration from 0–100 km/h is in 5.7 seconds, with the car accelerating from 80–120 km/h or 50–75 mph in fourth gear in 5.2 seconds. Top speed is cut off electronically at 250 km/h or 155 mph. Despite this impressive performance, however, the BMW Z4 Coupé 3.0si makes do with just 8.6 litres premium plus/100 km in the EU test cycle, equal to 32.8 mpg Imp.

The car’s sound qualities are far less reserved than its fuel consumption,
the sound of the engine clearly revealing the focus on superior output and performance: The BMW Z4 Coupé offers the driver and passenger an experience of true authenticity full of power, sporting character, and superior style. This also includes that slight but essential “roughness” in sound so typical of a high-performance engine.

Six gears – either with manual gearshift or automatic.
The BMW Z4 Coupé comes as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox combining short gearshift travel and precise movements of the shift lever with operating forces remaining smooth and consistent at all times. The optional sports automatic transmission, by contrast, offers a genuine sports car feeling combined with superior comfort and leisure in motoring, paddles on the steering wheel allowing the driver to shift gears by hand whenever he wishes.

The body: extremely stiff, stable and light.
A torsionally rigid bodyshell is essential in order to convey the superior performance of the BMW Z4 Coupé safely and smoothly to the road at all times. And indeed, featuring torsional stiffness of 32,000 Nm/o,
the bodyshell of BMW’s new Coupé is extremely stiff and stable in both torsional and flexural terms. This also pays off in passive safety, perfect interaction of the body and safety systems offering the driver and passenger excellent protection in virtually any kind of accident.

Space for two – as well as more than just the usual hand baggage.
Offering luggage capacity of up to 340 litres or 11.9 cubic feet, the
BMW Z4 Coupé has a luggage compartment quite exceptional for a two-seater sports car and is able to carry two golf bags, to mention just
one example. The integrated roll-up cover alone extends over a volume of 285 litres or 8.6 cu ft. The tailgate is opened via the lock housed conveniently and out of sight in the BMW logo.

Re: Z4 Coupé And Z4 Coupé M

Will the M Coupe get the regular M3 engine, or the one from the CSL?

Re: Z4 Coupé And Z4 Coupé M

the Z4 Coupé M

The BMW Z4 M Coupé is a sports car for very special moments – moments the driver may well experience every kilometre, every mile on the road. Uncompromising, purist, and extremely powerful, this two-seater offers an unparalleled experience of undiluted dynamism both in everyday traffic
and on the race track. Without doubt, its prize-winning 3.2-litre straight-six M power unit developing maximum output of 252 kW/343 hp offers performance of the highest conceivable standard.
Over and above the sheer power of the engine also borne out by maximum torque of 365 Newton-metres or 269 lb-ft, the BMW Z4 M Coupé stands out in particular through its chassis and suspension designed and built to
convey enormous power safely and smoothly to the road. Indeed, the unique character of this equally unique sports car is expressed most convincingly
by its high standard of agility and spontaneity in responding to all of the driver’s commands.
While obviously being closely related to the BMW Z4 M Roadster, this
fixed-roof two-seater goes its own way also in its design and styling. The low and sleek curvature of the roof typical of a coupé and the striking look
of the car from the side make this new model unmistakable at first sight.
The BMW Z4 M Coupé is now bringing to life the Concept Car presented
by BMW at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show in its most sporting and dynamic rendition. A great wish and sincere hope expressed by many sports
car enthusiasts everywhere is therefore now becoming reality faster than expected. Entering the market at the same time as the BMW Z4 Coupé 3.0si, the BMW Z4 M Coupé is the most impressive proof of the huge
dynamic potential and performance this new model variant is able to offer.

High-speed power unit for incomparable performance.
BMW’s new two-seater is powered by the same prize-winning 3.2-litre straight-six M engine also featured in the BMW M3 and the BMW Z4 Roadster. The engine’s performance figures are indeed impressive at very first sight: 3,246 cc displacement, 252 kW/343 hp maximum output at an
engine speed of 7,900 rpm, maximum engine speed of 8,000 rpm. And no
less than 80 per cent of the engine’s maximum torque of 365 Newton-
metres or 269 lb-ft is available at the driver’s request from just 2,000 rpm.
Output per litre is 77.8kW or 106 hp, giving the BMW Z4 M Coupé a power-to-weight ratio of just 5.6 kilos or 7.6 lb/kW. Acceleration to 100 km/h comes in 5.0 seconds and top speed is limited electronically to 250 km/h or 155 mph.

The pleasure of shifting gears six times over.
The concept of a high-speed engine is particularly impressive whenever the torque available is converted into optimum thrust and power on the road by a short overall transmission ratio. And precisely this is what the BMW Z4 M Coupé has to offer, with its six-speed manual gearbox laid out for optimum performance throughout the engine’s entire gearshift and
speed range. Short gearshift travel, precise action of the shift lever, and close increments between the six gears – these are the typical features of this outstanding transmission.

Optimum conditions for perfect suspension.
The superior engine and drivetrain of the BMW Z4 M Coupé are matched
by an equally superior high-performance suspension. In its basic concept, the suspension is identical to that of the BMW Z4 M Roadster, but has nevertheless been geared specifically to the particular requirements of the fixed-head model. Just how perfectly all the car’s components harmonise
with one another is clearly proven by the BMW Z4 M Coupé on the Nordschleife, the Northern Circuit of Nürburgring, where the Z4 M Coupé outperforms the lap times of even the BMW M3 and the BMW Z4 M Roadster.

The chassis and suspension of the BMW Z4 M Coupé is identical in many respects to the chassis and suspension of the BMW M3, with a wide range of shared components. One example is the M differential lock on the rear axle, while the highly effective 18-inch compound brake system comes straight from the BMW M3 CSL. BMW’s DSC Dynamic Stability Control, in turn, supplements the suspension with its significant safety reserves whenever
the going gets critical.

Check out how badly Autocar (Link) gets this wrong:

BMW is gunning for the Porsche Cayman S with its new Z4 Coupé, the 'M' version of which packs the M3's 388bhp V8 engine for shattering performance.

Seen in these official images for the first time, the Z4 has two engine options - a 265bhp straight-six unit and the 3.2-litre, 388bhp V8 from the M3.

Pfffff.

Where did they get 3.2L 388bhp V8 engine from M3. :t-crazy2: :t-crazy2:

It either 343hp in M3, or 360hp in M3 CSL from I6 3.2L.

Re: Z4 Coupé And Z4 Coupé M

It's quite good looking, especially from behind, but why no M side mirrors?

Re: Z4 Coupé And Z4 Coupé M

The latest info I have is that BMW is still considering to offer Glacier Silver with matt-gloss finish, and the concept rims. All will be known till launch in June.

There is still hope they will offer Z4 M CSL soon - with 360hp engine from M3 CSL. Since this would be a limited edition, the paint & rims could be offered for CSL. :t-hands:

Re: Z4 Coupé And Z4 Coupé M

Excellent design. lemans blue M coupe is :icondrool :icondrool :icondrool

To mad the car doesn't get the full M makeup such as M mirrors and gills.
