The BMW 6 Series is a range of grand tourers produced by BMW since 1976. Successor to the E9 Coupé.

A little bird tells me the 6 Series will feature in the new Mission Impossible film and one is currently in Dubai whilst they are filming. The battery went flat on a cabrio version and had to be taken to the local Dubai dealer to be fixed.

So, is the launch of the cabrio going to tie in with the launch of Mission Impossible 4, in which case the coupe is going to be launched first which is contrary to what has been reported so far.

Both Coupe and Cabrio will be in the film , released next December.
I have the script and it shows the 6er in some car-chase action.
There are other BMW's featured in the film aswell.
Tom was shown the 6er Coupe when he was in Munich supporting "Knight and Day" (have not seen it , nor Avatar:D) which was sponsored by BMW. He liked it very much.

LOL! klier why is it that all the BMW driver's I know, including myself hate Tom Cruise?
:t-cheers:

Do BMW, when deciding on these product placements, consider that it might put people OFF buying the car rather than encouraging them to buy it?

I would have thought the 6 Series wasn't really aimed at a young market, so Mission Impossible seems a strange choice.

You forget the "Spy" thing has been done by BMW before with the 007 Franchise which significantly appealed to all ages.
Using the 6er in the Mission:Impossible Franchise which since the first one has grossed over 1 Billion dollars worldwide, (have not seen 2 or 3 myself - any good?)

The pages which involve the 6er are the usual "eye-candy" background appearances. But the chase is something that could be taken from "The Hire" BMW's short film series.

Tom Cruise has an M6 Cabrio , So because BMW were sponsoring "Knight and Day" (not seen it?) He got a VIP visit to BMW and saw the 6er Coupe and Cabrio , since he is producer in the Mission:Impossible franchise he suggested the product placement for Mission:impossible - Ghost Protocol.
But the 6er is not the only BMW Group vehicle being used.

And no I have not converted to scientology.

I didn't "forget". I would say 007 appeals to an older audience more than Mission Impossible as it goes back many more years and is more widely known around the world.

Good to see that a BMW will be showcased in an action film again... I was getting kinda tired watching the Audi A8 dance around unrealisticly in Transporter 2 & 3.

Any plans to preview Tom Cruise with the new 6er on Oprah? :D

It would be great if BMW could provide 5 or 7 series for the TV series based on the Transporter franchise :eusa_pray

After all, Luc Besson get the idea to make that movie after seen "The Hire" BMW's short film series :)

Ahh Tom Cruise..BMW should be more selective with celebrities.:D

I don't hate him but certainly NOT a fan.

I saw some clips of Tom Cruise filming the new Mission Impossible movie on Sky News in the UK today. He does all his own stunts. He was hanging on a rope off the side of the Burj Khalifa.

Viewable here.

I'm going to Dubai in two weeks, so I hope he's still there then.

I wish I was Tom Cruise then I could buy 50 Veyron's if I wanted to. ;)

Say what anyone will about Tom Cruise, but the man is a MACHINE, and insanely intense and no-holds-barred in his craft.

Exactly. When BMW is spending money, at least spend somewhere where its worth it. Last 2 MI were flops. Tom Cruise is a flop actor.

While Audi sponsors Ironman, BMW sponsors flop franchise MI with flop actor.:t-banghea.

Well, Audi might have it down best in this marketing regard. But you guys getting Tom Cruise is better than what "we" Benzer's get....

Sex and the City. :eusa_danc

If you read that article it says that Mission:Impossible III made 800 million world-wide , according to idmb M:I II made about 800 million also, hardly makes it a flop. With the entire franchise over a Billion dollars suggests there is an audience.
Also the ban from miltary bases was because of the subject that no one in Germany dares mention today ie Nazi-ism in which he starred in that film about the attempted assassination of Hitler.( I forget the title)

I thought Iron Man 2 was not as good as the first film.
Dont forget Rolls-Royce also had product placement in both Iron Man movies.
I enjoyed the first Mission Impossible film but have not seen the other two.

The difference is that the 6er will be part of a major action sequence.
It wont be OTT as say the Audi A8 driving along the side of a truck trailer.
Quattro might be good but not that good.
