6 Series [Spyshots] F12/F13 BMW 6er (Spy Pics, Info & Impressions)

The BMW 6 Series is a range of grand tourers produced by BMW since 1976. It is the successor to the E9 Coupé. The first generation BMW E24 6 Series was available solely as a two-door coupé and produced from 1976 to 1989, when it was supplanted by the larger BMW 8 Series (E31). When the 6 Series nameplate was revived in 2004 for the second generation, the BMW E63/E64 6 Series, the coupé was joined by a convertible body style. The third generation F06/F12/F13 6 Series debuted in 2011 as a coupé and convertible, and a sedan variant known as the "Gran Coupé" in 2012. When the F06/F12/F13 6 Series ended production, the "Gran Coupé"/coupé/convertible models shifted into the more upmarket BMW 8 Series (G15) nameplate. The fourth generation 6 Series, the G32 6 Series, debuted in mid-2017 and is offered only as a fastback body style to complement the BMW 5 Series (G30) sedan/wagon.

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

well i guss they decided that this will be the UGLY bmw over and over again

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

Can't say that it looks good. It's a combination of 6er and Z4 with modified 3er coupe kidneys... :sleep1zh:

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

This is Creative Marketing at it's most , well.... creative.

Throw Huckfeldt some early design phase crumbs ,let him do his work
Let the tease begin with maximum publicity as it spreads and then everyone debates and comments on the "teaser" of the design.

And debate you will....

Look at that early four door Coupe shot and you can see some next 6er ideas like the rear of the car and the now classic roof line , personally I think the current E63 will still look good as the replacement draws close - It has such an individual modern appearance that I think it will be a classic BMW tomorrow in the sense of how the E24 is perceived today.

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

Yes that's the one . look at the shoulder line and how it forms an interpretation of the rear of the current car where the rear wing meets the bootlid and allows the lights to be placed on each corner. That is very representitive of the F13 - The Brief is :" It's already a good looking car lets extend it's design and evolutionize it's appearence. Lets not go too crazy!"

The front headlights will be of the new design as seen on the CS Concept but will not have the circular cut out just a straight across slit. The Cabrio will extend it's appeal by offering a folding Hardtop and BMW are working with a (Supplier) on reinterpretating the current cars fin roof design with a folding hardtop configuration - One idea shows the rear glass area connected from the rear side windows to the rear wind deflector glass piece with the roof folding over giving the Cabrio a look similar to the rear butress of the Ferrari F599 GTB.
Although perceived as a GT Coupe by many circles BMW want to now take the 3rd generation back to it's roots and be credible when facing it's more serious performance rivals.

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

What is the time frame for the introduction of the new design?

Report: 2011 BMW 6-Series roomier, less controversial

BMW's followup to the dramatic 6-Series won't bring anything shocking to the table, but it should address concerns with the existing model and increase the large coupe's competitiveness, according to a new report by Germany's AutoBild.

While the current 6-Series — introduced in 2004 — is arguably one of BMW's most aggressive and controversial designs, its successor won't do anything to push the envelope further. Instead, it will serve to move the 6er further toward grand tourer territory.

Longer than today's model, the 2011 6-Series will offer more legroom for rear passengers. At the same time, it will get a sportier cockpit with a more driver oriented console layout.

As signaled by BMW's new CS concept, the automaker will be abandoning its awkward trunk design features on the 5-,6-, and 7-Series in favor of a more streamlined design.

Three engines options will give customers a choice between 306, 408, and 507 horsepower, the report claims. The 306 hp model will make use of BMW's new twin-turbo inline-six found in the 335i. It's unlikely the 635i will make it to U.S. shores, since Germany luxury makers generally don't offer entry-level engines in premium cars in America.

The 650i's successor will climb in output to 408 horsepower — up from 360 horsepower in the current model, which itself was a significant jump from the 645i's 325 horsepower. The M6 is expected to retain BMW's 5.0-liter V10, with output of at least 507 horsepower.

The convertible version is expected to make use of a folding metal roof, like the new 3-Series convertible. Front overhang on both models will decrease by an inch and a half, despite increased pedestrian safety requirements. Wheelbase will grow three inches.

A previous Autobild report suggested BMW would also offer a four-door variant of the next-gen 6-Series codenamed F14, but it now appears rivaling the Mercedes CLS will be the job of the CS-based 8-Series.

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

It sounds very nice, but this:

I understand about 6er and 7er, but 5er's tail? :t-crazy2::t-crazy2:

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

Think they are talking about the Bangle butt, not sure what's wrong with it though!

I wonder if they will put a diesel in the next 6er!

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

They will.

Current E63 6er will get VTT 3.0L diesel engine already this Fall when being facelifted.

:t-cheers:

Good, I'm sure that will boost sales in Europe!

What about the 7er, will that get this engine before the new model comes out?

I guess not - it would be very unusual to throw a new engine in an outgoing car (mind that E65/6 production will end in a year!).

BMW usually present some special offers for model's last production year yet IMO they will offer some kind of 7er "Premium" package - with some Individual & high-tech goodies standard.

:t-hands:

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

So Eni....

The V8 engine they mention in the article Tycoon posted (the one with 408 hp). Is that the successor to the curent 4.8 or is that the new V8 TT?

Re: Autobild: new BMW 6er (F13) impression

some mags are so dumb-bild in particular. Why would teh Next gen M6 remain with the the same v10 as the last generation-it will follow the next gen M5 and get that engine-duh!

I would guess that the V8 replacing the 4.8 is turbocharged-if the N54 is any measure of success.
