5 Series Possible Facelift 5 series with new engine

The BMW 5 Series is an executive car manufactured by BMW since 1972.
Don't know if this has been posted before.
Seems like the N54 engine is making it's into the 5 series.
If this happens, we might as well see the bi-turbo 4.4 litre V8 in the 550 soon.

According to my sources 535i will be offered in NA only (USA & Canada), while the rest of the world will still have to deal with more exclusive V8 540i.

Only I4 & I6 engines will be upgraded with facelift (bestsellers). No V8 upgrade for now.

New V8 engines will be first offered in X6, F01/02 7er, F5 ... And I guess it will creep into other models slowly ...

So when will X5 get the new V8? Oh wait, but X5 does not even have the bi-turbo V6 yet.

I can not believe BMW to launch a turbocharged 4.4litre V8 in the 5 series. As this engine is very likely to produce considerably more than 400hp it would be to close to the M5 and B5.
A supercharged version of the 4.4 would be very suitable in the X5 and 7-series as there would be no engine version 'in collision'. The 760i is bought because of its 12 cylinders.

Do you have any sources or just guesses?

No offense - just my 2 cents.

From what I hear, there will be a bi-turbo 4.4 litre V8- I think it will be called the N64 engine. Power will be in the 400+, and torque will be close to the 400+ ft.lbs.
I also hear that this will be the powerplant for the 550i,650i,750i,X5 and also the new X6.
I have also been told the S85 engine is capable of a lot more, and will be slightly uptuned.

Now for the guessing part: when we will start seeing it and which car will get it first is entirely anyones guess.
My take is that 750i or the X6 whichever comes first- chances are it may be the X6.
Next might be the X5, and then the 550i.
1. E72 X6
2. F01 750i/E70 X5
3. E70 X5/F01750i
4. E60 or F10 550i
