Aerodynamic Ace

Driving pleasure has been written large at AC Schnitzer for 20 years. And happily, nothing will change for the 62nd IAA. But this goal can be reached in a totally alternative way, as the launch of the superb AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED shows. This high-performance coupé has LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) drive, where power and efficiency, economy and ecology, meet in an exciting study.

As if the extravagant exterior of the project vehicle, based on the current 3-series coupé, were not enough, under the bonnet growls the V10 engine of the current M5/M6 which AC Schnitzer is presenting at the show for the first time in bivalent design: The vehicle has a fully sequential LPG system with two parallel 5-cylinder vaporizers.
There’s no loss of power or dynamics. The engine, tuned with a remapped control unit and modified exhaust tract with sports catalyst and exhaust manifold, develops 552 HP/406 kW and produces up to 540 Nm at the crankshaft. In itself, that’s 45 horses more than the M5/M6. But why power this with LPG?

Liquified Petroleum Gas is a sensible alternative to normal petrol fuel, both economically and ecologically, and after corresponding conversion can be burned in almost any petrol engine. Per litre, LPG is not only cheaper than petrol but produces around 15 percent less CO2 from the exhaust. With over 2700 filling stations in Germany alone, fuel supplies are guaranteed everywhere, and the 80 litre gas tank fits on board with the original 60 litre petrol tank. So you can switch between fuels at any time. In any case, acceleration is more than just acceptable.

The sprint to 100 km/h takes 4.5 seconds, and the 200 mark is passed after just 13.9 seconds. Only at 320 km/h does the pressure on your back begin to ease. Nimble enough to show the rear lights to many powerful sports cars. Especially when a racing suspension from Aachen provides incredible handling qualities. And to match the power of the acceleration, there’s the brakes on the AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED: At the front, 8-pot fixed calliper brakes with perforated and vented discs size 374 x 36 mm, at the rear a 4-pot brake system with 350 x 24 mm discs.

Talking of slowing down: the striking body design will soon bring passers-by to a stop. In conjunction with the mineral green special paintwork, the AC Schnitzer aerodynamic kit is a real eyecatcher. The air intakes on the front wings, with their characteristic chrome ribs, and the rear 60 mm wheelarch extensions, are particularly successful. With the AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED, AC Schnitzer has created a feast for all the senses, where the centrally positioned sports rear silencer with its sonorous crescendo takes centre stage acoustically.

The rear styling with its special contours and the rear skirt with integral diffuser, the rear roof wing with carbon centre part, are as aesthetically pleasing as the powerful front skirt with its coarsemesh sports grille. The latter makes an effective contribution to the breathing of the oxygenhungry five-litre engine. Equally breathtaking for the spectator is the first sight of the racing rims Type VI.

The latest creation from the Aachen wheel manufacturer combines the classic Y-spoke appearance with five striking hollow spokes and bicolor finish. Naturally these decorative elements are not just available for the AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED. For the moment however the latter is a unique creation not for sale, with an estimated value of 198,000 Euro.
But we can still get excited because for sure, numerous components will soon find their way into the regular AC Schnitzer range. Parts of the exciting sports interior can already be ordered for example by customers with a 3-series coupé.

There are too many things wrong with this car that I don't even know where to start!

I´m quite sure that in different color would be another story..but with this..I don´t know.On the other hand,I like how it combines great perfomance with eco-friendly features:usa7uh:

Article: One of AC Schnitzer's Frankfurt debuts mixes very high performance with a little bit of a greenish tint. Behold the GP3.10, a 3-Series coupe that has been completely transformed with a full interior and exterior overhaul (which you will either love or hate). The car's name tells you the rest of what you need to know:

* GP: Gas-powered, as in Liquid Petroleum Gas (LPG)
* 3: For 3-Series
* 10: For 10 cylinders

Roof WingYes, that's correct. The GP3.10 sheds its stock I6 for a worked-over V10 sourced from an M5/M6, and AC Schnitzer has fitted the motor with an LPG system that turns the car into a dual-fuel monster dishing out 552 horsepower and 398 lb-ft of torque. The driver can switch between fuel sources (gasoline or LPG) at any time, and LPG is readily available in Germany (2,700 filling stations, according to AC Schnitzer). There is the added benefit that CO2 emissions when running on the LPG are 15% lower than when on gasoline. But let's be honest, potential buyers of something like this aren't looking for green-ness. They're probably more interested in the gaudy 4.5 second 0-62 time and 198 mph top speed. As for the equally gaudy multicolor, multi-textured interior and the fully-Schnitzered exterior, we'll leave the judgments to you. We will say that the center-outlet exhaust is pretty nifty, but we are so not crazy about that little F1-style mini roof wing.

I wonder what people in ACS in Aachen really do? :cool:

The just spoiled the design of E92. What have they done with rear wheelarches and exhaust pipe :confused:

What's more, I have always claimed that only a#@$%$# use LPG installation in their BMWs in order to save some money. :t-crazy2:

I really can't imagine a new ACS 3 Series Coupe with V10 motor giving off the smell of rotten eggs (a normal smell of burnt LPG).:t-wild:

This car is so super F__king Fugly it's not even funny. It's like WT-F were they on when they came up with this? Like that stupid ass little wing...WT-F is that for? AC have lost their F__king minds. Is their new designer a former ricer or something?

overkill. looks like something out of japan or dubai...

Japan ok.. but we dont build such things here in Dubai..

Imo every country has people with good taste and bad taste but lately from the cars that have been seen in Dubai i must say that the bad taste people numbers are going down....

Thanks..

AC Schnitzer Builds Fastest LPG Car: GP3.10 GAS POWERED

AC Schnitzer Builds Fastest LPG Car: GP3.10 GAS POWERED

Going green will no longer mean the slitting of wrists with the mention of the word performance. This highly-strung high-performance vehicle by AC Schnitzer is an LPG-powered design study based off the new BMW 3-Series Coupe, which just happens to have set a new world speed record for liquid gas fuel cars. The record-breaking concept, dubbed the GP3.10 GAS POWERED, clocked up a speed measurement of 318.1 km/h (197 mph) on a run on Southern Italy's 13 km long high speed Nardo track.

The design study transplants a modified M5 engine into the new BMW 3-Series coupe, turning the BMW M5's 552 hp or 406 kW ten-cylinder unit into that which powers the fastest vehicle on the planet to utilise liquid gas fuel. It joins AC Schnitzer's earlier record breaker, the M6-based TENSION, which claimed the undisputed title of fastest road-going BMW in the world. Acceleration to 100 km/h (62 mph) is a staggering 4.6 seconds, while to 200 km/h (124 mph), that figure climbs to just 13.9 seconds.
But this is a green car, so it's only right to flaunt it as such. Reductions of 15 percent in emissions are achieved through the use of LPG, while with over 2700 refuelling stations offering liquid gas in Germany, it is a readily available fuel which is sold at below the price of ever-rising gasoline.

Set to remain exclusively in AC Schnitzer's portfolio of concept vehicles, the one-off GP3.10 GAS POWERED has been valued at 198,000 Euros. The tuner however remarks that components may very well trickle down to future models.

Second World Record in a Row : AC Schnitzer builds fastest gas car

GP3.10 GAS POWERED achieves 318 km/h at Nardo

Nardo, the legendary high speed track, has been the setting for so many record attempts. Once a year at the track in Southern Italy, under the supervision of "CONTINENTAL AG” and in collaboration with the editors of "AUTO BILD sportscars”, the Creme de la Creme of tuners fight it out – this year on 20th and 21st October 2007. AC Schnitzer, with its Concept Car GP3.10 GAS POWERED, was the world's first company to turn the event motto "Beyond 300 km/h” into reality with a liquid gas powered vehicle. At the end of the GPS speed measurement on the 13km long high speed track, which fundamentally is just an enormous circle, the digital instrument display read 318.1 km/h.

This makes the GP3.10 GAS POWERED, based on the current BMW 3-series coupé with a modified M5 engine, officially the world's fastest vehicle with liquid gas fuel. The vehicle is powered by a bivalent ten-cylinder engine delivering 552 HP/406 kW. Last year, AC Schnitzer broke another world record in Nardo with the TENSION. Based on the BMW M6, this has since been the undisputed fastest road-going BMW in the world.

Expectations this year in the Engineering Team were equally high for the new GP3.10 GAS POWERED vehicle. Especially since there were just four weeks between its world premiere at the IAA Frankfurt and the Highspeed Event in Nardo in which to finalise the set-up. A sensation: the AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED is the fastest gas-powered car in the world. This proves that high speeds can be achieved by an alternative route. The eye-catching AC Schnitzer GP3.10 GAS POWERED is a high-performance coupé powered by LPG. Power and efficiency, economy and ecology are here combined in an exciting study.
