just a thought, we know edac have ruled out buying the embattled N ring. Why dont Merc, or the cash king buy out the n ring? special nurburgring special edition models alone will cover up all running costs. i would think publicity with the marketing drive and this could be a major coup for bmw. maybe making the n ring available to new M Owners or just bmw customers? just a thought....

Say if one of the big manufacturer bought the track, will it be willing to let other manufacturer use the track as well? The thing I don't understand is that the track appears to be very popular with track day racers, and for manufacturers to test their cars, how can it be in financial trouble? Especially when you have several car companies spending $$ to build their own test centers next to the track.

I too think the Germans should buy it, VAG, BMW and Mercedes-Benz. Then charge the rest to use it lol.

I think it would be too much for just one of them to try to buy and run it. Together they could really do it and spread out the cost 3 ways between them.

why not make it exclusive use for the manufacturer that buys it.. for eg if bmw buys it, only bmws or M s can drive it and likewise if merc bought it. or charge other manufacturers a fee... imagine a european delivery at the n ring with a few laps?

Too expensive I think. They all have their own test tracks and buying one this large just wouldn't make sense IMO. Now together they could afford it and it would make more sense.

with the amount of cash merc threw away with smart and mayback , i think this would be perfect marketing. use the n ring for all demos and launches, it would cut mercs advertising budget in half. maybe even start an AMG driving/racing series . the possibilities are endless.

Oh agree, that would be a huge come up for them, but I don't think they idea will go over with the boards of any of these companies right now.

All the crap that has been built around it , hotels , theme parks and shopping malls comes with it , this is where the failure lies. They used Tax payers money to build a Centre of delusion all because somebody watched an episode of top gear.
No manufacturer wants that.

^yeah like maintaining a huge ass track that runs through 3 towns and woods with creepy animals in it..
