I have noticed that in the past few years, Christmas decorations were appearing earlier and earlier, and this year it has reached a new low. we are half way through September, and shops are staring to bring out their Christmas merchandise now? Some shops have started at the end of August !!! This is getting absolutely ridiculous, are people's lives so boring and empty that they are already looking forward to Christmas when there are still more than 3 months to go??

Retailers stun shoppers with early Christmas decorations

CHRISTMAS has come early. Really early.
Retailers have shocked shoppers across the country yet again, setting a new standard for that phenomenon we could call "premature decoration".
You know the deal. Three months before Santa flies down your chimney, retailers hope to cash in on the Christmas spirit by creating a sense of merriment (and/or panic, depending on how unprepared you are).
Don't get us wrong, we're all for the Christmas cheer and the whole merry hoo-ha, but with more than 100 days until Santa flies that big red sleigh of his, don't you think it's a bit early?
We asked readers to tell us if they spotted Christmas paraphernalia at their local shopping centres, and the response was massive.

It's all about business. If they can get shoppers out earlier, then why not? Personally I usually see these types of decorations after Halloween.

Mid-August...that's bonkers!

In Australia, we do not really celebrate Halloween and Thanksgiving, so unlike American retailers that can commercialize those festive events from August-November, Australia only has Christmas left on the calendar.

Typically after Halloween in Canada and after Thanksgiving in the US.
I remember when I went to the Philippines in 2001, I found out they start celebrating Christmas in September. I was told Christmas starts the first of the "-ber" months.
