Scirocco VW of America chief wants Scirocco for U.S. lineup

It is stupid and wrong to think the US is one huge homogeneous markets. Tastes and culture differ here more than probably anywhere else in the world. That applies to our taste in cars too. The manufactures that realize this - mostly Japanese (and mini) are doing very well. Subaru WRXs, Lancer Evos, Minis all were once assumed would not do well here, but do quite well - especially along the coasts and other urban areas. Yea, just don't try selling them in middle of Alabama.

And in vice versa, I wish Europe's aggressive rides could transfer to U.S as well. Regardless of the segment, power-train & make!

Yeah too true, thank heavens we don't get a lot of your rubbish motors either, somehow American homegrown tastes don't translate to this side of the pond. Your stuff there is simply huge.

Size isn't everything,............... well outside of a porn film anyway. :D

LOL, that's just classic!!

...and sad :(
They want a Ford F150 instead of a GTI.

I think you are referring to what sunny called 'middle of Alabama', where mullets are still in fashion. :D

Very true, America is a hot pot of differing cultures so there may well be a market for the Scirocco, clearly the VW CEO seems to think so.

Nevermind this whole nonsense that "there might be a chance for the Scirocco to succeed in the USA" when clearly there isn't.

Would Americans buy a Jetta Coupé 2.5 for U$$ 17,000?
