The first
Porsche Boxsterhas rolled off the assembly line at Volkswagen's plant in Osnabrück, Germany.
The car, a red Boxster S destined for a customer in Bavaria, is the first in a small series of production. Porsche will build a majority of Boxsters in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen, but the plant's limited capacity has forced the automaker to offload some production to the Osnabrück plant to ease bottlenecks.
In a statement Porsche CEO Matthias Müller said "Due to the way things are in Stuttgart, there is no easy way to expand our main factory. Over the next few years, we will be fully utilizing our own production capacity predominantly with the 911 model. We therefore looked for a partner for producing the Boxster. The decisive factor in our choice was the great expertise of the workforce at Volkswagen Osnabrück. Our sports cars are in very good hands there. After all, we all have the same concept of quality. Osnabrück will become a part of our success story."

I'm sure quality won't be wavered at all, but on an emotional level, it's unfortunate to hear. I do love hearing that Porsche still take their 911 so seriously. When you hear Muller talk about the 911, you get the sense that even Porsche consider it the "True Porsche".
