US (and Canadian) October 2009 Sales

^ I'm amazed by those numbers. Passat sells much more than the CC in Europe for sure. Maybe one out of 10 Passats is a CC here, maybe even less. And not 400 but 4000 per month. I'm always very surprized to see that VW is so small in the U.S. I can't believe U.S people choose Japanese brands over German brands.

VW has a horrible dealer network and their reliability stinks here. Dealer service is terrible and word of mouth has cancelled them with a lot of buyers. Then on top of that they cost too damn much compared to a comparable Japanese, Korean, or American car.

VW isn't even close to competing with Honda, Toyota, or Nissan here in the U.S. Its sad really because VWs look and drive better, but reliability, service, and price are kings in the regular car market.

They have a lot of work to do in order sell 800K cars a year here in the U.S. by 2015. A lot of work.

Unbelievable considering how well organised and perfect everything is handled on this side of the pond...

I"m sure it is. I've said this for years, VW simply hasn't taken the U.S. market seriously. They're just now starting too, barely.

They need the Polo hatchback and a sedan version asap. The Scirocco should have been sold here too, if just the R version. The new Jetta and Midsize sedan will be a make or break event, but with a new factory and new cars at the same time, the quality is going to be terrible IMO. Built nice sure, but reliable I wouldn't hold my breath.

Amazing sales in Canada while a short distance away in the U.S. MB sales are way off for the year.

Why such a stark difference between the US and Canadian markets when it comes to the sales numbers of German car brands? BMW, Audi and MB all setting records for the month of October up there, but stuck in neutral over here.

Any possible explanations ? ...very strange...but great to hear some positive news!
