Not at all - it just goes to show that it took Subaru technology to beat the unbeatable. New WRX is fantastic - my advice to anyone looking to go the old-school route is forget about the STI (wait for the new FA-generation engine ones) for now and buy the cheaper, sweeter WRX.
And, in Japan, those lucky farkers... they get the FA20DIT WRX "S4"
That car has 221 kW and 400 Nm. And that's not even an STI yet. So I can't wait to see what the STI is going to get.
Edit: Oh, I see that the STI is listed with 227kW and 422 Nm but I can't help but recall that this is the previous generation EJ engine without digging a bit deeper.
