This is a neat idea; offering tours of a city with historical cars. This company offers tours of Munich with historical Volkswagen T1 vans! Gorgeous. I caught them stopping at the Friedensengel (Angel of Peace - Wikipedia) which provides a splendid view of the Prinzregentenstraße (Prinzregentenstraße (Munich) - Wikipedia).

So the next time you're in my city, hit these guys up. Prices are 67,- Euros per person for a 2.5 hour tour, which is incredibly cheap. Our let me know and get a ride in an A250.

Back in the fall of 1974, a student buddy and I "road tripped" from Munich to Naples and back in a T1 "Hochdach" panel delivery. My buddy nabbed it (a very faded grey Fernmeldedienst example) at a vehicle auction conducted by the Deutsche Bundespost and paid next-to-nothing for it. A memorable trip indeed.

Why T1 is expensive?

They have become very rare, have fascinating legacies on both sides of the Atlantic (the rebuilding of post WWII Europe, the California surf and hippie scenes of the 1960s') and exude a funky reverse snobbery that is irresistible to many a financially well-heeled car nut. Especially the "Samba" versions command prices that are beyond exorbitant.

I think the love and nostalgia we associate with cars is going to die with our generation. It's sadl. A few days ago on Deutschlandfunk Radio there was [the usual] topic of climate change and the car. I only caught the last 30 minutes of it, but it was so depressing listening to all these Green voters calling in ranting about the current automobile and demanding higher fuel prices so that the little funny country of Germany can single-handedly stop global climate change! The few car lovers on the show shared their love for cars and their classic cars - and were basically told to shut up by these Greenies who claimed that nobody needs a car, you can take a train or use a bicycle to get around. Unbelievable, the hysteria and anti-car attitude in this country at the moment.

Nun vermute ich dass eine zukünftige "Grüne" Regierungsbeteiligung (womöglich sogar als Seniorpartner. Echt unfassbar, nicht ?) unabänderlich ist. Die Frage ist: "Können die Realpolitik ?". Da habe ich natürlich meine Zweifel (insbes. in Bezug auf die "Fähigkeiten" von (SARCASM ALERT !) "Koryphäen" wie Habeck, Hofreiter, Roth und Konsorten. Aber einige fähige Köpfe gibt es doch (Kretschmann, Palmer, Aziz, Özdemir...ja..sogar Baerbock-obwohl ihre Art mir doch irgendwie zuwider ist)). Und viel schlimmer als die GroKo kann es nicht werden oder ?

Der einzige Grüne, den ich leiden kann, ist Boris Palmer. Er ist zumindest ein Realo in den meisten Themen. Und natürlich mag ich auch...

Ist es nicht paradox dass die sog. "Wohlfühl-Partei" derart diktatorische Eigenschaften aufweist ? Die Gesamtlage der Nation (und die Lage der EU sowieso) ist derzeit HÖCHST besorgniserregend. Trump, Putin und Xi Jingping wiederum sind sicherlich "very amused" und frohlocken bis zum Abwinken. Tja...Schadenfreunde ist bekanntlich die schönste Freude-insbes. in der Politik.
