SC is old...wait for the replacement, it should be impressive. btw, thats a beluga whale
It is old, but it was never a class leader IMO. To me, the SC430 was either in a class of its own, or last place when compared to the competition. Price and reliability aside, what does it offer?
Compare it to the competition for example. The SL, XK8, XLR etc. are all sportier, just as comfortable (if not better) and look a million times better and IMO have more brand image than the Lexus SC430, especially outside of North America where Lexus really has no prestige.
I also stated that perhaps I am misunderstanding this car. Maybe it wasn't meant to compete with the Porsche 911, MB SL500, Jaguar XJ8, Cadillac XLR etc. Maybe the SC430 was designed for those who seek the quietest engine in this class and as much isolation from the road as possible. Personally, such qualities don't speak to me, but there are people out there who like this. To them, that's
luxury. So perhaps the SC430 was designed for this exact purpose.
Either way, I was never a fan of the car and
Top Gear doesn't lie. When they say the ride is uncomfortable, they mean it. They also explained it pretty well. It's not soft, but hard.
Maybe the next generation SC will hopefully look better and drive better.
