Production ended in the first quarter of 2024. Production: June 2006 – March 2024 (45,949 Units), Model years: 2007–2024

Nobody at Audi expected the R8 to be as successful as it has become, winning numerous awards and selling out within days of going on sale. If you’re not willing to wait for your name to move up the list, Audi of America together with Bergdorf Goodman will be auctioning a special R8 customized by interior designer and architect Tony Chi that might fit the bill. The car is part of the 2007 Bergdorf Goodman holiday catalogue, and all proceeds from the sale will be donated to any charity the lucky winning bidder designates.

“The Audi R8 is proving to be one of the most sought after cars this year. We’re certain that this stunning car and the charity it supports will make many people happy this holiday season,” said Bergdorf Goodman rep Scott Keogh.

The sealed-bid auction has a starting price of $160,000 and bidding will close on December 14th.

Last year Neiman Marcus sold a limited run of custom BMW M6 cabrios in its official Christmas catalogue. Despite a markup of close to $50,000, all 50 cars were sold out within minutes so with just one R8 available bidding should be fierce.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
