The What Do You Do For A Living Thread

Ι 'm an Air Traffic Controller at a local airport.

In the Summer we have lots of charter flights from all over Europe (20-40 flights everyday). In the winter we only have 1-2 local flights.:D

Thankful you're not going through the bs that's happening with JFK air contollings and radars as of recent (jumbo jets in near collision with each other)

I'm an entrepreneur/writer. Well, I am trying to be an entrepreneur and launch a business. Problem is, I can't find a credible foreign wholesale supplier for an affordable (not incredulous) price. I'd be happy to hear any suggestions you guys can give me. I want to make/sell jerseys.

At the moment no... I'm either working or on my laptop typing my thesis which is all but done... managing my time takes alot of effort but I dont feel i work to much... im still enjoying life

You must be a very busy man and extremely well off haha???

Busy yes - as a registrar I dont make alot if moeny but all my side jobs bring in ample income - the once a month rural clinic consultations fetch me $250 a consultation through medibank because i travel so far... se about 20-30 patients when i go so thats were i get most of my money

What does a normal working day in that sort of career involve???

A normal day you ask... there is no normal day really...

monday, wednesday, thursday, friday i operate - tuesday and every second saturday I see patients in my office - i see patients all over the shop but

operating days are normally 5am until 9pm

consulting days are 8-6 round about

some weeks i work 45 hrs some i work 100 - it just depends

I lecture once a month and tutor a group of 10 tuesday night for an hour once a fortnight

The intern addmissions is a three day a yr job that gets me an extra 20k - It's more of a bitch of a job then any of the others - constant emials and rubbish to deal with grrrrrrr

Would i recommend this career - only if you have wanted to be a doctor since 6 and absolutely love being a doctor - it can veru emtionally and physically draining and being able to perform 120% during surgery when your feeling its all to much is critical and takes the heart to love your job... I love my job but there are days when i hate it and it all gets to much

The worst was when a 8 yr old girl bled out on the table because i wasnt able to repair the ruptured cerebral artery in time - i had tears running down my cheeks as i fractically tried to find the cut around all the pooling blood... It was a terrible time... But I have never looved my job more then that day because the family all took time to give me hug and say thank you for being our daughters surgeon

Thats why I love my job :D
