Gone off track The Happy Birthday threads moaning thread

So we are going to have some randomly generated happy birthday thread every day now??

Happy birthday nevertheless to @bum-man, but this is silly. He hasn't even been on in 3 years. And last week I saw a happy birthday thread for a dude who maybe has 4 posts over 10 years and who I have never even heard of.

Auto generating happy birthday threads? C'mon!

Doesn't matter how random the user is, put your birthday in your bio and the system picks it up:

Sorry Klier, but this is again factually incorrect... you just have to trust that if someone gets a birthday thread, they are at the minimum interacting with the forum somewhat regularly, even if other users don't see it. The average number of birthdays per day for the forum is over 200. I'm sorry that the few that have been posted in a week have triggered you so.

Yes, more or less like your efforts, pure shit.
Of all the mods on this forum, Matski’s conduct, efforts and contributions are the best by a long way. Your opinion is very wrong.

I’m all for the birthday thread thing by the way - it brings a bit of personalisation to the forum. So there’s no point in complaining about it, rather use the thread as intended - to say something nice to a user, if that’s how you feel about them, when the opportunity arises. Otherwise do nothing, simple as that.

Yeah and you call it moaning, when a bot is spamming birthdays.

Either way, they appear gone now, good riddance. What a stupid idea.

Good to know.

As a side topic, you do realise "Hollywood" isn't the only source of entertainment? If you don't like the stuff they're putting out, post trailers for Indy films... **** knows they need the coverage in this time of Thor, Captain America, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, Batman, Spiderman etc. etc.

Thank you @Matski and @martinbo for helping and clarifying member concerns.

Just FYI, in case some of our members still have some doubts and/or concerns regarding this:

This is not 'randomly generated'.
The Birthday thread add-on was created with privacy in mind. It follows the "Show day and month of birth" privacy settings.
Plus, in order to receive a birthday thread, the member must have logged in within 14 days of his/her birthday and must have a message count greater or equal to 10.

This is a wonderful add-on written by one of the most talented and prolific Xenforo add-on developers. His name is Andy and he is also a member here. Thank you @AndyB

Another add-on by Andy that pairs well with this one is the 'Birthday calendar'. It is found under the Members section of the site.
