The excellent (and long) article can be found here:
http://www.autonews.com/apps/pbcs.d...-peter-brown-honors-some-of-the#axzz2RBVmxDXU

The article is solely the opinion of Peter Brown, retiring editorial director of Automotive News.

Here's a quick rundown of who received what award:
Most significant vehicle - Toyota Prius
Worst visionary - Juergen Schrempp (DaimlerChysler)
Best visionary - Louis Schweitzer (Renault)
Best politician (automotive category) - Ron Gettelfinger, Barack Obama (Tie)
Worst car - Jaguar X-Type
Least needed new brand - Hummer
Best new brand - Lexus
Worst dealmaker - Jack Smith and Rick Wagoner (GM)
Best dealmaker - Sergio Marchionne (FIAT Group)
Most powerful female executive - Mary Barra (GM product chief)
Breakthrough vehicle technology - None
Worst new technology - Keyless ignition
Most disappointing technology - Battery (electric cars)
Biggest personality - Bob Lutz
Easiest company to criticise - (GM)
Biggest villain - Inaki Lopez
Best Supplier CEO - Tim Manganello (BorgWarner)
Best Automaker CEO - Alan Mulally (Ford)

And not a single mention of Ferdinand Piech......

You are a bit harsh, FIAT was nearly dead before he came. As for the list, a bit too america-centred for my taste.

JùRGEN E SCHREMPP is the NO.1 piece of :poop: in the auto industry.

Who? Me!?

Yes! YOU!!!

OK fair enough. But I still don't trust him and his plans for the AR revival might be a bit too late.

As for the list, yes, it's very America-centred, but if a Brit journalist had done it, he/she would have named the Rover CityRover as the worst car launched in the last 25 years and Americans would be like "What the hell is a CityRover?"

As for the Jaguar X-Type, I never really liked it because I've always felt that Ford could have done much better than dressing up a Ford Mondeo as a Jaguar, but then again I never thought it was a bad car because the Mondeo Mk3 on which the X-Type was based, was a good car in the first place so while I may not like the X-Type I never thought it was a bad car.

My vote for the worst car in the past 25 years goes to the Daewoo Lanos. Now that was a properly bad car.

Got to agree with Worst visionary - Juergen Schrempp (DaimlerChysler). Other titles he deserves: Wanker, Ass****, Dumb*** etc. etc. the list goes on and on.

No mention of Dieter Zetsche:unsure:

Yeah probably because he's doing an incredible job despite the sheize he inherited! The union influence at Daimler are just angry because he's squeezing them hard for productivity and they want him out. When productions runs are 7 years, you don't turn a company around overnight.
