Musk was asked in Oslo last year about the Falcon doors and snow, he said that thay hadn't been tested in snow, there's a transcript of this somewhere on the Tesla owners forum. So I'm dubious, since it's almost impossible to find a winter testing photo of the X if I was buying one I'd be a bit worried.

"He has to shut it, that's kinda ghetto"

:D

What an utterly fugly looking car BTW. Hot damn. Sexy specs though. VW should go take a look.

Yeah, falcon doors don't belong on car like this. Especially now that it's electronically operated and it's only the back doors. Could save the juice for mileage.

Useful for people who do have the time to waiting for the door open and close instead of jump into it. Time is the key element here, owners have to drive in a zigzag course from one supercharger to the next, instead of driving fast to their destination, or are travelling for holidays near superchargers, instead of nice locations.

Tesla Model X will have a range of up to 257 miles

New details are starting to emerge about the 2016 Tesla Model X.

According to the EPA's fueleconomony.gov website, the entry-level Model X AWD 90D will be rated at 90 MPGe city / 94 MPGe highway and 92 MPGe combined. The site goes on to say the crossover will have a range of 257 miles (413 km).

The performance-oriented Model X AWD P90D is a little less frugal as it will be rated at 89 MPGe city / 90 MPGe highway and 89 MPGe combined. The model's range also suffers a bit as the EPA pegs it at 250 miles (402 km).

The Model X will be launched later today, so stay tuned for full details.

What do you use the interpretation Ghetto for?

Everyone's different but when I saw that the door had to be closed manually I thought it was a inelegant solution for such an ostentatious door design. Maybe the manual close has safety implications, so as to not chop off limbs.
