All,

Last weekend was the start of the "Taste of Lexus" tour. There you can enjoy gourmet food and drive cars like the new LS460 against the S-Klasse and 750i on a closed track.

Also on tap are cars like the GS450h and the IS350.

The tour will continue in Irvine, California next weekend and will continue through several major US markets before its Los Angeles conclusion in November.

I highly recommend any GCF'ers that are in the vicinity of the show to go check it out. The tracks, while short, are very well designed, and give you a chance to really push the cars to the limit.

Are you attending the Chicago event?

EDIT: Duh - you must be attending Chicago, look where you are. Ha!

I went last weekend but didn't get the chance to drive the LS460. I'm going to go again this weekend and try to drive all the 7er, S and LS back to back.

Yes I will be at the Chicago event, at Arlington Park. Oh I'm driving the LS460 a couple of times along with the S550. I wonder if they'll have anything else there to compare the LS with. Lexus wants to be MB so bad they don't even consider BMW and Audi or Jaguar competitors sometimes when it comes to the LS. Lexus is just like GM, they won't have the true competitors there sometimes. I can't wait to drive the 550i and E550 vs the GS450h.

I drove the IS350 and 330i last year so I doubt they'll have a 335i there.

Last year was the IS350 compro drive including the 330i and the C-Klasse. This year, because the LS 460 is the hero car, it's the LS vs the 750i and S-Klasse. In other words, no 335i.

Ty and Roberto, I don't remember posting anything about it last year as I had just joined this board a few weeks before that event.

They always wait so late in the year to hold this obvious outdoor events and last year it was freezing, but sunny.

I'll be sure to post a full report this year and the weather looks like it will cooperate too! Of course this year the LS460 will be the focus.

Now from last year I can tell you that the IS350 impresses in several ways. First off the interior is very trendy even younger looking than the 330i, and of course it is of high quality, but the BMW seemed "tighter" in the way it was contructed. The BMW also seemed like the more solid car, not that the IS350 wasn't solid mind you. The 330i was also quieter! The IS350 was is much faster than the outgoing 330i in a straight line, it is a rocket! Lexus also staged a drag race between the two to prove this. Most people were like no way is a Lexus faster than a BMW. That is the power of the BMW image. This little advantage is over now though as the 335i Sedan will be on the scene in a few weeks. I'd like to drive it, but it probably won't be there due to the fact it would seriously show up the IS350. I also drove the GS430 and the E500, looking forward to driving the E550 and GS450h this time! I loved the E500 to the point of thinking about driving away with it...lol! The E is so slick, quick and comforting so I can only imagine what the E550 is like. I actually found the GS430 to be a little sportier in its steering that the E500 and it was just as slick in its operation and a little quieter. I suspect the FL E550's chassis changes will put it ahead of the GS in steering feel now.

Well I go Sunday afternoon so look for a report that night or Monday!
