Phantom [Spy Shots] Rolls-Royce Takes Phantom Coupé Facelift Out for Winter Testing

Rolls-Royce has used the Phantom name on full-sized luxury cars and limousines since 1925, making it the longest used car model nameplate in automotive history. In the 20th century, the Rolls-Royce Phantom was a very low volume, hand-built limousine, which in its first four generations was custom coachbuilt to the customer's requests, and sometimes extravagant desires. Whilst automobile manufacturing over time became more mechanised and prolific, and vehicles from other manufacturers could be built in greater numbers and at lower prices, the Phantoms remained hand-built, and production of individual cars only began once the order was placed. The use of the name "Phantom" is a long tradition of naming Rolls-Royce models after ghosts or spirits.

Further proof that Rolls-Royce is getting ready to revamp its entire Phantom lineup comes from our scoopsters in Europe who captured a very lightly camouflaged prototype of the Coupé model undergoing winter testing. [/FONT]This will be the first facelift for the Phantom Coupé that was presented five years after the sedan version of Rolls-Royce's flagship line in 2008.
The two-door model will sport similar changes to the standard and extended wheelbase Phanton sedans, including some tweaking of the headlamp and front grille designs and possibly the tail lamps and rear bumper.
We haven't managed to scoop any photos of the cabin yet, but we do expect some subtle upgrades to the Phantom Coupé's interior design as well as its technological features to keep up with the times.
Also, the BMW Group will most likely look to make improvements to the drivetrain to reduce the V12 engine's fuel consumption and lower CO2 emissions.

8-speed gearbox, HUD, V12 TT....I want to see everything the Ghost has, and more.

The Phantom's V12 is a relic for crying out loud. It really needs the new twin turbo version, with more HP than the Ghost (I'm thinking 600 hp)
