Although I never made a double neck guitar in the Batio's style, I did pretty wild guitars back when I was doing custom guitars (I no longer make custom guitars, but do make custom basses)

I then standarized my guitars into just 4 models and never lloked back at making these abominations :D

Very impressive work. You are an artist Gianclaudio.

Thank you very much! But still I don't consider myself anywhere near an artist. I'm just a craftsman (actually I'm an industrial engineer :P )

^GC, i need custom made drums since i'm a drummer for 20 years already... Can you make something for me? :D

Hey, didn't know you were a drummer, Pantera fanboi :D

No, I don't even know how to make a drum, but have a friend of mine who makes them. They are not made by bending plywood like most drums, but sticking pieces of wood like in a wine barrel.

Here is the link to his FB page:

His name is Julio, a very nice person and is very fluent with english, if you get interested in his work.

Gianclaudio, this is amazing. You never told me, would you or have you ever built an acoustic bass guitar?

I believe you have a guitar shop right? Out of curiosity, is this like something your family has been in for some time or did you started on your own?

Never had, and probably will never make one, I'm not familiar with the bracing (the internal structure) required for making an acoustic bass.

I own a guitar making shop and co-own a musical instruments store. It's something I started on my own, actually family wasn't very keen when I told them, as they were expecting me to work on dad's company (both my sisters, my father and myself studied engineering. One of my sisters works on his company, the other have been working on the oil industry very well and all over South America and there it was, the family hippie and his guitars :D )

I understand why you don't want to go trough the hassle, besides, I can only imagine the tension it would have to withstand from the bass strings.
But if you ever feel like doing it, you can buy a Mexican guitarrón.

I don't remember who was the first person to make an acoustic bass, but that's exactly what he did to understand the bracing and what not, he bought a Mexican guitarrón and used it as a starting point.

It's very cool that you started by yourself against your family's judgement.
My family manufactures/sells furniture (my grandfather's father began the business), we are in a bad streak right now because Mexican economy is terrible, but the business was always huge.
The thing is, I don't really want that to be my future though, I want to do something on my own as well, so I admire that [the fact that you did it] a lot. I just want to build cars and make some money while I'm at it. But working on what you like is probably one of the most valuable "wealths".
