Hey guys , its more than a month since apple launched the iPhone 3G ... did any one purchase it ? It reached my country illegally and can be activated by Hardware activated sim cards. And the software has been jailbroken already.

Perosnaly I bought it with turbo sim to unlock it and I did the jailbreaking my self to download some of the great apps. things I hate about it, the lack of organized SMS inBox, no MMS, no video recording. Things I like: anything can be designed to operate on this platform ! And the great user interface. Gmail (or email in general) synchronization is awesome.

So any one here purchased it ? I know RikfromBelgium did already

I have one. I like it, but I don't love it, at least not yet. It is great when I have wireless connection, but the ATT 3G connection is not the fastest, so browsing can be at times frustrating. Things I love the most is location based services.

sunny I got mine from the us and I still didn't figure bow to activate the LBS services. I need to test the GPs

^ i couldn't get rid of my Nokia because:
Video calls.
MMS.
Bluetooth file exchange.

I purchased one a few days ago. It's not officially out in my country (Croatia) yet, but when it does it will be most likely locked to T-mobile. But Italy and a few other countries have the legally unlocked iPhone for sale (Vodafone and TIM both have it), albeit at a much higher price (500 Euros for 8GB).
I love it so far, but then again I knew I would. The few little annoyances will most likely be fixed in software (MMS, video recording, clipboard) and judging by the rest of the software features, it will be very good.
With regards to MPixel count, bigger isn't always better. The bottleneck on all cameraphones is the lens, which has to be very small and can't have optical zoom (or if it does the phone is significantly larger). You could easily increase the MP count by using a different chip, but all other things being equal, all you'd get is a larger image that uses more space in memory but isn't necessarily of higher quality. The reason is because now, for example, you have 4 neighboring pixels with the exact same color that were previously recorded to one pixel - which is exactly the effect you get when you enlarge an image in an imaging program like Photoshop.
The camera on the current iPhone is good when there is enough light, but it sucks in low light conditions. Perhaps a LED for flash in the next version. And an autofocus lens :)

Well Muhammed, currently i have the old iphone but with software updated and just got a SE C902 two weeks ago.IMO the new Iphone is a total waste of money and doesn't offer anything significant over the old one,u can even update the old one to the newest software.Of course there is the long list of other shortcomings in the phone like useless cam,no vid cam, bluetooth is just pretty primitive, battery not that good, pretty basic messages menu..ect..:eusa_doh:

some of the problems with the 3G:

-When charging, battery bar is always full.
-No warning signs when battery is almost out
-To open text messages it takes 10+ seconds
-Slow to type texts every once in awhile
-Keyboard does not show up in texting every once in awhile
-Words freeze on the screen on text messages
-Page jumps when typing on Safari
-Slow typing when on Safari every once in awhile
-Safari randomly closes once every day.
-Phone randomly hangs up.
-Once you answer a call, it takes 5 seconds to connect.
-When on the phone and the screen turns off, it does not turn back on until person hangs up.
-Ringtone does not ring on every phone call.
-Terrible battery life.

Over here, the phone is still not available (except for grey imports). Hopefully when its get launched in about 2 months they will have a firmware update to sort out the bugs.
Still has the most awesome user interface I have ever come across.

I like to keep my phone and entertainment toy separate. My cellphone is the most basic one you can get haha. But I really do thrash it around, which is ok with me.

I love my Ipod, but like someone stated, Safari can be dodgy at times and closes by itself :eusa_doh:. Plus this thing would have been perfect if it just had a physical volume button.

I just got mine !!! I like it allot, it's easy to use, I havnt got the hang of it, but it's really cool.

This phone sound so awful and no I don't have one but
my father does..

um, Once you answer a call, it takes 5 seconds to connect..
Yep that's his words too.

I am quite sure when the "new/next" Iphone is on the market
I'll buy one..

Later then.
;)

Waouw it seems this phone is the typical kind of irresistible crap, glad i didn't take one. :D

Those of you that have issues with performance... did you get the officially unlocked versions from countries where it is available (Italy, Greece, ...) or did you use an unofficial "hack" unlock?
The phone has been nothing but snappy for me and the sound quality is much better than my old phone (Sony Ericsson K750i). The only thing that bugs me is a lack of Bluetooth OBEX push service.

Plus this thing would have been perfect if it just had a physical volume button.

It does, it's in the side of the phone, right below the silent ringer switch.
