Yesterday I was at the Ferrari showroom for the launch of the 458. Apparently the demand for the car is so great that Ferrari didn't want to go with a huge launch event for the car - hence the soft launch as the car quietly slipped into the Singapore market. Already the waiting list for the car is 1.5 years, any more demand and the local distributor won't be able to meet it.
Anyway, so far I like the 458, flamboyant as a Ferrari should be and full of little details that makes the design a little bit messy and yet, impressive as a whole. The interior is a bit odd with its minimalist theme but what matters most is there - the great steering wheel, paddle shifters and a great driving position. I didn't like that the wheel arch seemed to eat into the driver's legroom a little too much for comfort though.
They also started the car (it wasn't a cold start) and the car was very, very quiet. So quiet that I was a bit disappointed. They did not give it any revs but I thought the idling could be louder.
Anyway enjoy the photos I took. Can't wait to hear it at full chat.
