W123 Singaporean Mercedes 230E (W123) with 1,451,201 km!

The Mercedes-Benz W123 is a range of executive cars produced by Mercedes-Benz from November 1975 to January 1986. The W123 models surpassed their predecessor, the Mercedes-Benz W114, as the most successful Mercedes, selling 2.7 million units before production ended in the autumn of 1985 for the saloon/sedan versions and January 1986 for coupés and estates/station wagons. It was succeeded by the Mercedes-Benz W124/E-Class in 1984.

Here it is! I finally found the article about the Singaporean W123 230E with over 1.4 million km on its odometer. At the time of writing, the date was April 2004, so he's bound to have put on a few extra km's on that baby.

Dude, I can't see any scans! Edit: found it!

It looks like in spanking good condition, love the AMG rims too.

And it's Singaporean. Anyway, thanks sharing! I'll keep a lookout for his car...

Thank you Christian for this article... :eusa_danc

...and 280.000 km on a Clio is a lot! Renaults build quality really becomes better the last years! (our Scenic has 140.000 km) :D

Anytime guys. My new scanner is fast so this is no problem at all. :t-cheers:

Mirage: Keep a look out for this guy and tell him you saw his car featured in Mercedes Enthusiast when you find him. :D

Giannis: Damn! You're Renault is special! :D

Actually it's a late 1990 model and served me as daily and as the only drive for many many years. That's why.

Other that that, the car is intact, you can see it's age. After the last service it goes as good as it was 10 years ago, and the interior doesn't have any single fault, despite its age! Impressive i'd say. Note that it was Car of the Year 1991 :D

PS. My dad has also a Renault as a daily drive and it is also very nice!
:t-cheers:

Gotta take a pic of the odometer...

As you see i have something above 276.000km so soon it will be 280.000. I guess this time next year... Though, the car is in very good shape, both inside out. In the exterior there are no signs of age, apart from the hubcaps, but only if you take a closer look you will notice that they are some (actually many many) scratches.
In the interior, there are many signs of age, most of which are pretty obvious. First thing you notice is the cloth on the seats, it may be in good shape, but on the drivers seat it is pretty much worn out. The plastics are like brand new, which is impressive and very nice to see, for such a low price and old car. All controls work and even the Radio-Casette (Blaupunkt) is ok. Though the signal things on the steering wheel column are worn out. And so is the alarm switch. Other than that, the car is in very good shape. Last month i paid a nice 1200eur to repair the car so now it goes like... :D

The S60 is not as "traveled" as the Clio though :D

I like that Clio body style too. The current one isn't bad either, but the one before that and after yours was kind of lame looking.

I have exactly the same opinion. Actually i had to drive a (rented) Clio II, because police had taken my licence plates (stupid parking ticket) and i had to rent a car to drive.
The car was not goog, both quality and driving wise. Hard plastics and boring engine... The new one is very nice. Huge improvement. The first gen was also very very good, and that's why mine has last so much!

Your Clio looks really good for it's age... - impressive!!

Impressive or not, i am planning to replace it sometime in summer. But it's hard to get rid of it. It's a part of my life... I think that i will do my best to keep it...

Incredible. I think the highest mileage I've heard of was around 1 million.

And as you said, it's bound to have even more now.

My volvo 440 is approaching 190000km, no major problems... i think it will keep going as long as i am ready to spend money to replace mechanical parts as they fail, which may cost more than what the car is worth, which at that point i probably won't be willing to replace parts anymore..

btw people say automatica trannys will have problems after at most 140,000kms, but the ZF auto tranny in the volvo is still pretty good, still as smooth as it was before.

Our W123 had around an estimated 500000 miles on it before it was officially retired; I say estimated because the car outlasted the odometer which had read around 286000 before it stopped turning. The car went through 3 generations of my family, drove my dad through college, and myself through high school and part of college. It will be missed.
