PRESS RELEASE

ROLLS-ROYCE PRODUCT UPDATE TO MODEL YEAR 2009

16 February 2009, Goodwood

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars is pleased to announce details of a product update to the 2009 model year Phantom and Phantom Extended Wheelbase. Building on a successful sales year in 2008, the phased introduction of a number of subtle model year enhancements will reinforce Phantom's position as the pinnacle product of the super luxury segment.

Harmonising the front appearance of the car with that of the Phantom Drophead Coupé and Phantom Coupé, a new streamlined front bumper has been designed and integrated with a shallower grille, finished in stainless steel.

Other new exterior features include LED door handle illumination and the fitting of 21-inch cast aluminum wheels as standard. Two further wheel options exist, both manufactured in forged alloy and available in either painted or part polished finishes.

Inside, rear passengers will benefit from a new RCA component input which provides auxiliary audio and visual connectivity to the 12-inch monitors mounted within the picnic tables. Further features include new front and rear door cappings with integrated grab handles and new bi-directional double reading lights in the C-pillar provide additional illumination. Rear climate control, volume control and electric window switches are now conveniently repositioned, housed in a wood veneer panel in the door.

Production will commence at Goodwood in the spring.

Great facelift although it didn't really need it. The more the better.:)

Not good enough, the car looks a bit dated next to the Drophead, BMW should have given the front fascia some LED action.

I think the facelift looks great. The improved front bumper looks much, much improved. I instantly think the pre-LCI looks ugly compared to this....

IMO, for such expensive and long life cars, subtlety is best. LEDs headlamps would have been a tad too much for a mere update.

Anyone got pics of the updated wheels? Would love to see them :usa7uh:

What's your number as I would like to call you right now.:D

Look, here in London Rollers are not a rare sight and you do occasionally see a Drophead Coupe and once you've laid your eyes on one of those, the Phantom pales away. This is the problem with very large cars, after a couple of years on the market they start to look a bit dull, so a regular facelift is highly neccessary to keep the car looking fresh. Plus the new baby rolls is around the corner and will make the phantom look more like a big brick. Revised head light units would have served the car well.

:t-cheers:

Rolls-Royce approached existing customers regarding the update asking what they would like and apparently the front styling was asked to stay individual from the additional Phantom Coupe and DropHead Coupe models.
Owners like the imposing front styling so it was given a subtle refreshing.

At Geneva the full Rolls-Royce product line will be evident from Phantom to the Future .
