The S3 Sportback all the way. Far classier inside and out than the A45. Sure, the A45 has much bigger outputs - surely the highest specific output for any 2.0 litre turbo 4-pot yet - but this brings its own set of issues. I also dislike the look of the A-Class intensely and this even manages to look vulgar. Yip, I'm completely put off by the A45's looks and I doubt it'll be all that different to drive from the S3 SB. So, in this case, aesthetics play a big part in my decision.

I must say that some of the 'vulgar' of the A45 Martin's referring to does appleal to me. If I was in the market for a HOT hatch with those two brilliantly cool bucket seats of the A45 will have me drooling for years.
But all things considered (and being totally honest with myself) VAG wins my vote. The Audi is the more mature car in every respect. For the same reason I'll have a Golf GTI over a Megane RS.

The A class without question. The only thing I like on the Audi over the A class is the interior to be honest.

I voted A45 because it intriges me, I like its exterior much more than its interior where I reckon no one does it as well as Audi at the same price bracket. I have no experience of small 4 cyl Merc engines apart from their diesels which I simply hate but as this is a petrol I doubt it will be as unrefined though 360hp from 2.0L can mean only one thing, its going to go like a rocket and at least its partnered with a proper Dual Clutch which is a big plus in my book. Then we get to the AMG tweaked Haldex system which if rumour proves true will behave like nothing before it so in my opinion if its priced right Mercedes will be on to as big of a winner as the M135i was for BMW.

I hate polls where there's such disparity between the quality of the photos, i.e the highly photoshoped and touched images of the A3 compared to the relatively 'in the flesh' appearance of the A's photos.

I think they are GORGOUS and beautiful made. I always have them as wallpapers, and as I know, they are very popular. Wow...talk about different tastes.

The fake lights, the fake blurry effects... terrible. Sometimes even the wheels aren't fitting the car, like they were only chopped to the car. The same goes for today's official Porsche pictures, and so on.
Kudos to Merc this time for the clear, close-to-the-real-world pictures.

I don't like either but I vote for the S3 just because the A45 looks like shit 
I biggest visual difference between these two is that one looks elegant, professional and expensive whilst the other looks mean, purposeful and a little boyracer-ist. I might add I like both equally which can only mean one thing.... I'm an old fart who's still young at heart. lol
