If you hadn't used these words, it wouldn't seem like you support people abusing their power to get a handful of vagina.

Just sayin'
Really? ....is that what you take from my comment?

There has been a lot of 'reading between the lines' and assumptions going on.

I never endorsed Trump's comments.

Those words were a fitting description for a lot of that protest. Admittedly, not everyone protesting was a complete moron but how else would you describe someone dressed up as a vagina to protest against a newly elected President?

Please, I wish some of you would stop projecting all kinds of prejudice on to me.
I am tired of my morality being under question. One person made a sly comment about my morality and it's like it became attached to me like a barnacle.

I challenge anybody here to find a single example of my misogyny, racism, or bigotry of any kind. Please give me a clear example of my lack of morality.

I'm no saint, but I am honest and have pretty high expectations of myself. I actually try not to offend people so the reactions I've been getting here have been surprising to me - especially since I have not taken a definitive stance on any of the topics.
I doubt anyone here could clearly know what my private political beliefs are.

I'm not attacking you personally Matski, I just don't want to make enemies here based on misunderstandings and reinterpretations of my posts (it's like arguing with Jacques Derrida!). I am really unhappy about what has happened already.

"Go ahead, make my morality" ;)
aaaa.webp

To be honest, I'm not looking for a fight on moral issues. I specifically chose only to quote those words I did to try and highlight why people might be tarring you with a certain brush... in attacking and belittling the protesters standpoint, the implication is that you stand on Trumps side of that issue - and you didn't once say that anything he'd said/done was wrong, or that you disagreed with it (and you only added in the word Sleazy as an afterthought). If you think I'm reading between the lines too much, then okay - maybe I am, but things left unsaid can often still speak volumes.

I don't want to fall out with you over it though.

The word sleazy is appropriate. You guys criticize me for being ambiguous when it comes to condemning Trump - yet if I do use a word that hints at my personal feelings about him, you call it an "afterthought".

I have criticized Trump many times in this thread but I tried to do it thoughtfully. The truth is, I can't stand him - I never wanted this thread to descend into a Trump-bashing party.

Those Women's March protestors had every right to voice their opinions about the President - I have no problem with that but the way some of them chose to express themselves was rather childish.

I would say the exact same thing about the group protesting against the removal of a statue in Charlottesville: they had a right to protest. Some of them turned it into a racist rally and of course I did have a problem with that personally - my point about it was however, under US law they do have a 1st amendment right to voice their bigoted views in public (it is the law). Points-of-view like that are precisely why freedom of speech is protected in the USA. Most people do not have fringe points-of-view so that law is not a big concern to them.
